      Simple.

If McGregor (no boxing pro fights) still up in the 6 rounds. This will be bad for boxing.

If MCGregor (no boxing pro fights) survives 12 rounds. This will be the end of boxing.

      why?

A non boxer who never fought in a pro fight was able to hang with a supposed elite of boxing. That will have repercussions if that scenario happens.

In the Octagon it has been proven an elite boxer, James Toney, can't win in an Octagon, and got blitz in the first round, therefor saving the sport of MMA from shame and vindicates it as a true sport.

In a boxing ring, if Floyd can't finish McGregor the same way Randy Coutour did to James. Then it only shows MMA is not far behind in terms of striking aka boxing skills. There is a lot running in this fight for Floyd to perform.

If Floyd does not deliver. He's legacy is fuvked and boxing will take a hit to go with his shame. Floyd has to perform for boxing's sake.

There is a lot riding in this circus show that floyd didn't realize. Now that he has signed. He needs to deliver.

That pressure for Floyd to perform might give McGregor the opening he needs to land that lucky punch hehe

The only thing B Hop is correct about is that the Nevada Commission should not sanction this as a "fight". It should be classified as an "exhibition".

That's what boxing has turned now a days. A corruption ridden money talks kind of sport. That an exhibition fight becomes a sanctioned fight against an opponent with no amateur or pro fights ever. Reeks corruption everywhere. Sad to say, boxing is the dirtiest sport to this day.

The ALi vs Inoki fight was a circus show that has been tagged as an exhibition.

But few boxing pundits don't realize this true story. After the fight, Ali was almost about to lose his leg from all those Inoki kicks. Ali was almost near amputation. Ali could have fuvked up his career that night. It was actually a circus show gone wrong. Now, If McGregor makes this a fight. This will be very embarrassing for Floyd and boxing as a whole. Anything can happen.

I guess you didn't see former WBO Heavyweight champion Ray Mercer KO former UFC Heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia in 9 seconds in the 1st round when they fought in a MMA fight?

What about Ricardo Mayorga going 4-3 in MMA fights?

Was it bad for MMA when Hershel Walker and CM Punk started competing?

Mayweather vs McGregor is a joke of a fight but it isn't new to boxing.

                  It's not the same.

Floyd is the premier ambassador of the sport. Elite of Elites in boxing today. He represents the pinnacle of boxing. If Floyd looks bad, he brings boxing with him. you better pray floyd does good for your sake and everyone who loves boxing.

To put it simply if a white belter (mCGregor) survives 6-12 rounds with a 7dan black belter. (Floyd) Boxing is fuvked and loses credibility as a sport.

Yes, we all know mayweather picked McGregor because despite the fact that everyone knows its sideshow, he has the name recognition to create money. Similar to how Hopkins continuously chased his rematch with Roy Jones despite the fact that Roy was getting kod left and right. That 2nd fight to this day remains one of the worst ppv main events I've ever seen in my life.

Mayweather vs McGregor is about money, nothing else.

Some people were here crying about boxing being dead after May-Pac, but here we are enjoying one of the best years of bouts in the last 15-20 years.
