Why is kovalev the boogeyman and ggg is an overrated hype job? Didn't kovalev also recieve the same hype and also have a thin resume?
I don't know if you're coming down with a case of the Maxi's or what, but this isn't about Golovkin and I never called Gennady a hype job.
And, Ward/KovII got great press, with people saying it was very exciting, better than the first.

I think it's clear that kovalev was no boogeyman. I just find it weird that he was largely missed with the eurobum/hypejob doe campaign. Even after kovalev lost to the first real top level fighter he's faced(hard to count hopkins), nsb wasn't overloaded with the obligatory "exposed" threads. Wait to see what happens if ggg loses to canelo.

I'm sure ward vs kovalev 2 got it's share of good press, but let's not generalize saying it was overall great. It's a mixed bag and a lot of people were focused on the ending. I saw highlight packages that literally only showed the last 3 punches.

You haven't been paying attention. Seriously. Look up Kovalev threads from a year ago. People were calling him the greatest LHW of all time and few were arguing it. Wonder why he escaped the "euro bum" rep? It's because he was a boogeyman. I was one of like two guys here who raised questions about his opposition and such and people freaked the *** out on me. Nearly everyone loved Kovalev.

He did? A fight that was dead even on the scorecards through almost 3/4 of the fight Is an ass whopping?

When I think of an ass whopping I think of Tyson vs Spinks or Tyson vs Frazier. There was no ass whooping In the Ward vs Kovalev fight. Ward caught an exhausted Kovalev with a solid right and followed It up with a few borderline shots along with a low blow.

Other than that, It was a very good If not great performance by Ward.

Greatest lhw of all time lol...that's nsb for ya. I've looked at him the same as ggg. He looked good against the opposition he was facing, has good power, getting pushed heavily by hbo...but still didn't prove it against the best. Questions were answered about kovalev and questions will be answered about ggg when he faces canelo.
