Why did Lomachenko lose to Salido?

What caused him to lose to Salido? Was it because of the fouling, or because of Salido's experience?

Loma was too 'green' in the pro game to be put in with an experienced fighter like Siri

      It was Man vs. Child.

Lomachencko wasn't ready to take on that style.

Pro experience, there's no substitute for it.

Salido's very experienced, and his style is even worse for a pro debut, rough, aggressive, dirty.

In a rematch I'd favour Lomachenko especially considering Salido is so far past it at this point.

Lmao, he was trying to fight clean and look professional. Salido is a seasoned vet that knows the tricks both dirty and clean. Very bad combination to go against for a new guy in the pro rankings.

Silly matchmaking. Lomachenko very gifted but salido is no mug. He knew a bit too much and used all his nous to frustrate lomachenko.

Itd be a different fight now but salido did what he had to. Credit to him and credit lomachenko for not protecting his 0 and looking to test himself win lose or draw.

                  This.

And by the way, the fight was a close ass fight. As close as it gets, actually. It could have easily went the other way. Or been a draw. Look deeper into the numbers. If you go by compubox Lomachenko actually out landed Salido by 22 punches. And was way more accurate with his shots. 37% to 22%. And Loma was blazing him in the final couple of rounds. Out landed Salido 58 to 26 in the last two rounds and nearly had him out in the 12th. That fight was full of swing rounds. Rounds 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, and 10 were all decided by less than 3 landed shots a round.

Lomachenko did way better work upstairs while Salido was just as good to the body. Really coulda went either way.

                  Now?

Lomachenko would blow that same Salido the f**k out. If you take that exact same Salido from that night, and put him in the ring with today's Lomachenko -- it's a f**king paint job. It would be nothing more than a Lomachenko showcase.

I'm surprised at the maturity of some of these answers. It was a combination of going to the deep end a little quickly and getting robbed blatantly. Texas is almost as shady as Nevada. The weight thing obviously, then the low blows and ended in a decision that was probably wrong but not horrible. Having said all that I think the experience he gained helped him develop much more as a fighter than going the usual route of 15-20 fights of nothing and then onto the tough stuff.
