I would literally have to catch up with both careers top to bottom to come to a conclusion. Both top guys.

I would say Toney. He fought better opposition, and a lot of his losses were due to his lack of discipline outside the ring. He also defeated Barkley in a fight that was FOTY worthy, great fight. Also beat Oquendo. Draw with Rahman.

At the moment James Tony, but not by much. If Ward gets an Adonis Stevenson on his record then he has the better body of work.

I voted for Ward. Part of having a great resume is not losing very many fights. Toney has a few losses while Ward has no losses. Ward is always in top shape for every fight. Toney was not always in shape and didn't always perform at his best.

Toney. I dont usually look up old fighters but I really like Toney.

Very fluid and I think he fought better fighters.

No joke Ward has Kovalev under his belt

James Toney and it's not even close in my opinion. For Andre Ward to even level James Toney's entire career accomplishment, he has to beat someone like David Haye at the very least.

Also, beating Vasily Jirov at cruiserweight > beating Sergey Kovalev at light heavyweight in my opinion. Especially taking into consideration Toney and Jirov where involved in one of the most entertaining boxing bouts ever.

In addition, Mike Mccallum in my opinion is better than anybody Andre Ward has ever beaten.

Toney has 10 losses in 90 fights. Ray Robinson had 19 losses in 200 fights. Losses don't tell the whole story. Ward never lost, but he never fought anyone on the level of a prime Roy Jones either. When you look at who Toney beat, they are leaps and bounds above anyone Ward ever beat.

Ward because other than Kovalev he won all his top fights in dominant fashion.

Every win you've named for Toney all the ones that were top fighters weren't decisive (except Jirov)

I'm not sure why Sosa would be on Toney's list but even that wasn't descisive either.

Would also say Barkely or Holyfield weren't top fighters at that time.
