Boneheads? The consensus among us hardcore fanatics is that it was a good scrap! A close fight which Ward was pulling away with in the 8th marred by a bad stoppage. A bad stoppage that was Tony Weeks decision No one saying Kovalev was cheated of a victory but he was cheated out of finishing the fight and going to the scorecards. Scorecards that were close and with 4 rounds to go he could have pulled off a victory on the scorecards although the momentum was with Ward

So Badboy9 and all you other Ward fanboys calm down and admit that it was a controversial/wrong stoppage

It was an early stoppage to a fight with an inevitable ending. Even the biggest hater in the game Jim Lampley didn't believe that Kovalev would survive past the 9th. Hell even JDJ and his assistant trainer indicated that Kovalev didn't have the heart to finish the fight in their post fight interviews.

I get it now though...the ref left the maybe he could have come back idea on the table for Kovalev fans.

Well said Sir! Ironically Kovalev got robbed in a loss, and now Ward got robbed in a win! One of his best performances is tainted by the actions of the referee! Kov is going to have a tough time getting quality opponents on HBO @ 175 because the bulk of the talent @ 175 fight on Showtime. If Arum takes Gvozdyk to ESPN, it's going to get even tougher. Basically there's Bivol and Joe Smith Jr.! Good luck with that!

Well I disagree that Kovalev was robbed in the first fight. But that's a very old, tired, and at this point all but meaningless debate. Anyway, I don't think the conclusion of this past weekend's fight tainted the victory nearly as much as you think. There's a very load minority that feels like the victory is tainted. But the vast majority of what I've seen and read viewa it as a conclusive victory for Ward. Even those that don't think it was a good stoppage seem to feel that at the point it was stopped, the outcome was no longer in doubt. Not only that. Almost everything I've read since this past weekend has referred to Ward as some variation of the unquestioned #1P4P fighter in the world. That wouldn't be the case if the general consensus was that the victory was tainted.

Kovalev was hanging in there as best he could after that vicious right hand, then at the fight end he gets pinned to the ropes and gets hit with 2 questionable low blows which made him hunch over and then THE 3RD BLATANTLY LOW SHOT which made Tony Weeks jump in to wave off when he should've gave Kovalev a 5min break and Ward a warning or a point deduction!

Kovalev didn't recover from the right hand until he was doing the post fight interview with Max. He retreated to the ropes because he was looking for an exit from Ward. The man got the fight beat out of him. When it was over he sat on the ropes. If Ward had hit him again he would probably be out the ring. This has to be some kind of mental defect where some people just ignore the truth and live an alternate reality. Maybe it's something with millennials or people that ate lead paint as a child.

Knovalev was done after the big shot in the face, yes the blows were low , but his body language was not looking good , at the end of the day i think he will be gone in the next round anyway , you can see Ward coming very strong , i wouldn't mind to watch a third fight to to tell you the truth.
