Props to you for actually doing that.

I will always prefer boxing but MMA is so much different now from when it first started in 1993 that I have grown much respect for the sport.

An MMA event was held in Russia, a fighter from the US went to compete, but he had a medical history prior to fighting. Since MMA was only beginning back then, medical regulations were few. Since it was also held in Russia, the fighter did not have to tell the organization of any medical problem history or any mandatory requirements by any government sports agency. The fighter fought in that event and it caused his medical problem to aggreviate that resulted in his death.

Moy22487 posted that in boxing when the fighter hit the canvas its over, wrong again (unless the referee made a right decision in concern of the safety of the boxer, then that statement is half right). Not all boxing fights are like that. How many fighters had hit the canvas, beat the count, get punish some more, hit the canvas again, beat the count again, and get punish some more. When this happens, the boxer's head get a lot of punishment compare to MMA, if an MMA fighter is knockout or can't defend himself, its over.

Like i posted before, for those who lives in the US, buy the August 2006 edition of Ring magazine, theres an article of safety comparison of boxing and MMA. The author did not bash MMA and even praised MMA for its safety regulations.

Top fighters in Japan's Pride Fighting Championship organization, top fighters fight 3-5 times a year. In the UFC, about 2-3 times a year. But there are some fighters who fights 8 times or more in smaller organizations.

Since ur into tradional martial arts(TMA), MMA came from TMA. Let say ur taking boxing, why don't you try training in judo. In a street situation, ur facing a guy a few inches taller and about 20 pounds heavier than u and he seems he knows how to box. With ur judo training u can take your opponent down, get in a dominant position called the mount, then use the punches from boxing, this is called ground and pound.

Mixed Martial Arts is a comibination of Traditional Martial Arts.

There is some, but i don't know what website(s). Every month i buy Full Contact Fighter magazine, it list its top 5 fighter in each division(in its website, can't find it).

                      Heavyweight 205 or more:
                      Fedor Emilianenko
                      Rodrigo Nogueira
                      Mirko Filipovic
                      Tim Sylvia
                      Sergei Kharitonov

                      Lighe Heavyweight 185 to 205:
                      Mauricio Rua
                      Wanderlei Silva
                      Chuck Liddell
Randy Couture(retired a couple of months ago)
                      Rogerio Nogueira

                      Middleweight 170 to 184:
                      Rich Franklin
                      Matt Lindland
                      Dan Henerson
                      David Loiseau
                      Jeremy Horn

There is also ranking in welterweight and lightweight.

If interested in learning about MMA history, schedules, results, and fighters, here are some websites:

                      www.sherdog.com and its forum, www.sherdog.net
                      www.mmaweekly.com

If u joined the forum sherdog.net, u can ask the history of MMA, there are some members who have more knowledge in MMA. They also have a section in boxing, kickboxing, grappling and stand up technique. Go join to find out more about MMA but don't bash MMA or u will be attack by a pack of wolves.

Some MMA magaines: Grappling mag, Tap Out, and Full Contact Fighter. The mags show some techniques of MMA and grappling. If ur gonna buy one or subscribe to it, i recommend Tap Out.

Also, go to www.youtube.com, type in Pride fighting, it will show some highlights from Pride.
