Props to you for actually doing that.
I will always prefer boxing but MMA is so much different now from when it first started in 1993 that I have grown much respect for the sport.Comment

Originally posted by loui_ludwigMore deaths in MMA, u might be knowledgeable in boxing but not in MMA. Since the inception of MMA from the start of the UFC in 1993, there was only one death occurred. An MMA event was held in Russia, a fighter from the US went to compete, but he had a medical history prior to fighting. Since MMA was only beginning back then, medical regulations were few. Since it was also held in Russia, the fighter did not have to tell the organization of any medical problem history or any mandatory requirements by any government sports agency. The fighter fought in that event and it caused his medical problem to aggreviate that resulted in his death.
Moy22487 posted that in boxing when the fighter hit the canvas its over, wrong again (unless the referee made a right decision in concern of the safety of the boxer, then that statement is half right). Not all boxing fights are like that. How many fighters had hit the canvas, beat the count, get punish some more, hit the canvas again, beat the count again, and get punish some more. When this happens, the boxer's head get a lot of punishment compare to MMA, if an MMA fighter is knockout or can't defend himself, its over.
Like i posted before, for those who lives in the US, buy the August 2006 edition of Ring magazine, theres an article of safety comparison of boxing and MMA. The author did not bash MMA and even praised MMA for its safety regulations.Comment

Originally posted by loui_ludwigSince ur into tradional martial arts(TMA), MMA came from TMA. Let say ur taking boxing, why don't you try training in judo. In a street situation, ur facing a guy a few inches taller and about 20 pounds heavier than u and he seems he knows how to box. With ur judo training u can take your opponent down, get in a dominant position called the mount, then use the punches from boxing, this is called ground and pound.
