Actually I hate to burst your bubble but there has never been a ring death in the history of MMA. I could be wrong here...but I'm almost 90% sure no one has died in the Octagon fighting MMA.Comment

From what I heard there was 1 death in MMA since it started and that was at an unsactioned event with a guy who fought against doctors orders. It's not one punch that will kill you, its the accumulation of punch after punch after punch. Plus people keep saying knees and elbows are worse than punches. If you get hit with an elbow there is a good chance that you will get cut and not be able to continue, so that doesn't mean they are more dangerous. People die all the time in boxing, it's sad but true. There's more of a chance of getting a broken arm or something in MMA but less of a chance of dying. It may be too soon to tell, but I don't know of any MMAer who is punch drunk. But boxers, just look at a guy like Meldrick Taylor. Plus people say the gloves are smaller than in boxing, so what. Mayweathere wears big gloves, so I guess that means that he isn't as dangerous as other boxers. Where is there more of a chance of dying boxing, of a broken arm or dislocated sholder, MMA.Comment

Moy22487 posted that in boxing when the fighter hit the canvas its over, wrong again (unless the referee made a right decision in concern of the safety of the boxer, then that statement is half right). Not all boxing fights are like that. How many fighters had hit the canvas, beat the count, get punish some more, hit the canvas again, beat the count again, and get punish some more. When this happens, the boxer's head get a lot of punishment compare to MMA, if an MMA fighter is knockout or can't defend himself, its over.
Like i posted before, for those who lives in the US, buy the August 2006 edition of Ring magazine, theres an article of safety comparison of boxing and MMA. The author did not bash MMA and even praised MMA for its safety regulations.Last edited by loui_ludwig; 05-29-2006, 12:52 AM.Comment
