Comments Thread For: Andre Ward: What's Next For Me? Cruiserweight? Heavyweight?

Andre Ward has stopped Sergey Kovalev in the eighth round to win their rematch and retain his unified light-heavyweight world championship. The 33-year-old Ward extended his perfect record to 32 wins in an impressive performance, albeit with a controversial ending, at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

It's whatever champ. Legacy is intact, the hall of fame has a spot waiting and the historians will need to make room on their ATG lists.

I'd love to see Ward continue to set the example of what chasing greatness is all about and go after a heavyweight title.

Just don't waste time waiting on bum ass Chickenson

It was retiring before this fight? Why the change of heart?

Go to heavyweight mate lmao, would be fun watching him get put to sleep against Dillian Whyte

He should move up to CW & enter that tourney. Imagine if he won that? Although I wouldn't mind him taking out Stevenson & getting all the belts at LHW.

I could see him beating whoever wins the wba regular belt, or some top15 heavyweight but he isn't beating any of the real champions

I'd still give him kudos if he was wba regular world champ

Shamefully biased commentary by Kellerman and Jones

Max Kellerman and Roy Jones Jr. called and embellished everything Ward did while rarely giving Kovalev credit for his successes. The vast majority of the punches that stopped Kovalev were blatantly low but they called them borderline. Jones even suggested that Kovalev's trunks were worn unusually high, which everyone could see, was not. Su****ious, since both analysts are usually fair and objective.

Despite what klinchers klan say,he did what anyone who knows about boxing knew he would, came out strong & angry trying to overwhelm ward & assumed hed get kd again early. Then gassed out as expected. CLEARLY he only improved on doing dirty tactics in clinches, that was obviously from training that he learned some new inside tricks. He literally didn't improve in anything else. He looked like he had no idea what he was doing, thats what happens when your trainer hates you enough to benedict arnold your azz. Like I said all along kov lost mentally way beforehand when he started worrying about last fight rather than this 1.
