Tony Weeks should have let the fight continue so that Ward could finish kicking Kovalev's ass conclusively.

Good performance by Ward but that was an awful stoppage.

If there is no standing 8 then just begin a 10 count. Early stoppages suck and rob fans of a definitive ending or even of seeing a Castillo-Corrales style turnaround.

Why? He hasn't been knocked down, and hasn't taken a knee. That's not how boxing works.

There is no standing 8 count in Nevada. The ropes weren't holding Kovalev up and he wasn't touching the canvas so Weeks couldn't call it a KD. He was defenseless with his hands at his waist bending over and couldn't protect himself. That was a textbook stoppage according to the rules

But the most telling this is Kovalev didn't protest the stoppage. He quit!
