no, it wasn't it was a clear low blow, so no, it can't be a good stoppage. totally fixed.

If there is no standing 8 then just begin a 10 count. Early stoppages suck and rob fans of a definitive ending or even of seeing a Castillo-Corrales style turnaround.

There is no standing 8 count in Nevada. The ropes weren't holding Kovalev up and he wasn't touching the canvas so Weeks couldn't call it a KD. He was defenseless with his hands at his waist bending over and couldn't protect himself. That was a textbook stoppage according to the rules

But the most telling this is Kovalev didn't protest the stoppage. He quit!

Weeks could have called the KD based on the fact that it was the ropes holding him up and gave an 8 count.

I thought that would have been the best thing, but I did notice Kova did not complain at the time of the stoppage.

Maybe I saw it wrong but it looked to me like he was sitting on one of the ropes taking those body shots.
