The last one definitely was low. I don't think that's the ONLY reason why Weeks stopped the fight. I'd ideally like to see better refereeing.
At that stage if the fight did you believe Kovalev to be in trouble moving forward. I felt that he had little left and was not likely to either survive the 9th or win another round. Ward looked fresher, sharper, and more confident at that stage of the fight.Comment

This is a joke comment. You can't disqualify the many legal body blows and the repeated air punching that Ward forced Kovalev into. You also can't dismiss the right hand that clearly had Kovalev hurt and on shaky legs.Comment

... of course... OK, OK... Ward fought beautifully!...
... but one cannot stop a fight because one "thinks" that a fighter won't survive the following round!

I admit that Kovalev looked like he was out of gas in that last round. But Ward landed low blows and Weeks stopped the fight early. Kov shoulda been given a count at least. Is that so unreasonable?
Just so you know, this was a 50/50 fight for me and I was expecting a close decision like last time.
You can't administer an eight-count and since Kovalev was too damn tired to do anything else but sit on the ropes and eat shots, he gave Weeks little choice. Especially since he wasn't throwing back, had body language the last couple rounds, was complaining about everything, trying to get quick rests and was fatigued, Weeks did him a favor.Comment

Unless Kovalec had his balls moved higher, those punches were borderline. Especially since his trunks damn near touched his belly button.
