this is one of those scenarios where outsiders who dont know how the sport operates really should keep quiet instead of acting like a relatively common practice is some sort of outrage
The chances are about 100% that in the instance you highlighted, Fonfara's actual purse was paid by someone else, like his actual promoter or manager who agreed to cover the purse in order to get their guy on Kathy's card. However, most commissions requires that the lead promoter actually present a purse check to every fighter on the card (even if they are being paid by someone else), therefore checks for $1.00 are not uncommon. Florida always required us to make them at least $10.00. So for example when Luis Ortiz' people asked if I could put him on my show and they would cover the purses, I still had to pay Ortiz and his opponent each a $10.00 check, even though they were being paid their actual purses by someone else.
Just because YOU dont understand how something works, that doesnt mean its wrong.
Is Russia really so poor or boxing is just not big enough there that Kovalev can't get any kind of rights on the Russian feed? Maidana was given rights on the Argentian feed when he fought Mayweather, if I remember correctly.

So basically you're calling Fonfara a deceitful c*nt? Youre saying he got a full purse from another party but decided to publicize an out-of-context paycheck just to defame Duva?
The split isn't the problem not having a guarantee and being on the hook if the promoter don't do their job is the issue. I get the promoter wanting to protect themselves but that's why you need a manager having your back in this situation. If it weren't a big deal kovalev wouldn't be crying about it.
LMAO. Yes, Duva is protecting herself by only putting Kov's payday for the fight on a percentage. It was Duva who told Kov, not to fight Stevenson on Showtime when Showtime was willing to pay Kov more than HBO would! Yes, it is Duva and it is Kov's fault for still being with that incompetent female dog. She screwed him on the Stevenson deal, she screwed him with the first Ward fight, and she screwed him again for the rematch. Also, Duva and Kov agreed to let Roc Nation be the lead promoter in the rematch. Duva was in the first fight, and apparently failed to do a good enough job. (link here http://www.boxingscene.com/roc-natio...motion--117225 ) So she said "I don't care how this is promoted or how Kov gets paid, as long as I get mine." And she is getting her money. Kov can keep getting ****d because he is too cheap to buy a translator or too ******ed to read a contract before signing it. He has no one to blame but himself.
Andre Ward had no idea what Kovalev was getting paid or that his pay would depend on PPV and ticket sales. Stop blaming Ward for Main Events not paying Kovalev.
Yeah it seems like kovo is getting screwed big time

This is why people were telling you that Ward was just a deceitful idiot with the whole I'm the A-side now...Roc Nation pays him and Main Events pays Sergey.........Ward has a minimum so he gets that no matter what so the mill and a half he got on top is Roc Nation caving to his demands...Now Duva better have negotiated with Roc Nation well on their side for Kovalev's sake because this event ain't gonna profit much...

Obviously you didn't know how the business worked or else you wouldn't have been such an utter failure
