Yeah, wlad clinched a lot, more than typical HW, all of whom clinch a lot. He also took on all challenges, respected the sport, and has an, 80% ko percentage.

Trying to say he's the same as ward is asinine.

Both are great fighters.

What they have in common: They both play it safe most rounds and slip into a dull pattern. Both have had very ugly fights against guys they were scared to trade with.

What they don't: When Wladimir picked up most of his fans he had a 90% KO ratio. Even though the rounds leading up to the KO's weren't always interesting, both his right and left are considered among the hardest punches in heavyweight history. He slowed down and had some very boring/ugly fights (notably povetkin) to 77%. Ward's is 48% and most of those were just wear and tear stoppages.

The racial element is of course there too. Ward doesn't help the situation by playing the race card a lot in interviews, alienating a lot of non-black fans who used to like him.

On the other hand Ward isn't nearly as hated as say -- an Adrien Broner. I wouldn't say that many people passionately hate Ward. It's mostly disinterest.
