Wlad's fights when he was younger (Andre Ward's age) were entertaining.

Ward has ALWAYS held, clinched, clamped a lot.

Wladimir has only done so after the age of 36 or so.

And Ward is much dirtier in multiple ways. And he's feather-fisted, we don't see exciting KOs from him.

I never enjoyed a Wlad fight EVER, until his last one. I used to actively avoid his fights! The Povetkin fight could have earned him the title for most boring boxer ever, same against Fury. I was happily surprised, however. Wlad looked skillful and great vs Joshua, far from boring.

I also felt the same way about Ward for a long while, but he turned me into a fan with his fight against Kovalev. To come back from that early KD adversity and to make that fight so close was amazing.

Two good fighters when they come to fight.

No1 really ever supported Wlad, there was a dominate HW champ for years and throughout Boxing was dead because the HW division was dead.
