I have definitely noticed that and agree that it's a problem. I'm not sure how that is relevant to my post or how you get that I'm a "newb" from that. You are in a bad mood perhaps and looking for an argument?Comment

Casual sports fans will always be enthralled by a simple brawl. They will be just as happy watching a hockey fight as Barerra-Morales. Andre Ward is talking about boxing fans being able to appreciate skill & tactics. Casual fans generally don't even recognize those things, and Kovalev's fans seem to refuse to acknowledge them.
great post !Comment

With all due respect in my very humble opinion I think Mayweather is a "cleaner, crispier boxer" Ward is more of a "rough, inside boxer" with a lot of clhinching,It's a weird thing with Ward. I've enjoyed Mayweather's style for as long as I've been watching boxing, yet have never warmed up to Ward's... even though they're essentially the same. I can't explain that one. Maybe it's Mayweather's hype-building skills I enjoy too.
Also, what Ward said about blood-and-guts fighters being forgetten after they're done at the top level... I can't agree. Plenty of fight fans will remember the slugfests by the guy in my avatar, or even Brandon Rios, but in all honesty who is going to remember an exciting Ward fight?
If you throw at Ward he might jump at you to smother your work and then clinch you, rough tactics, they work but they don't look very appealing to the eye.
If you throw at Mayweather he would usually make a pull-counter and snap your head back with a clean punch.
I've always thought that Ward is one of the strongest and one of the most effective boxers at the inside game.
Edit: Both guys can do both, Ward can counter and box from the outside very effectively, and Floyd can fight great at the inside too. It's just that I see Ward as a more rough tactics boxer than Floyd, like I said I'd describe Floyd as a crispier boxer than Ward.Last edited by batista84; 06-08-2017, 07:43 PM.Comment

Wise words, I'm of this kind of mentality,
I mean I appreciate great defensive fighters like Whitaker, Mayweather, Ward but to my liking I'm more on the offensive fighters like GGG or Kovalev.
You can appreciate the sport on all it's diversity but that doesn't mean you have to llike every style out there.Comment

If you compare a hockey fight with barrera/morales,I dont think there is a lot to discuss and "casuals" as many people calls them, the more you get,the more money they will spend, ask Ward with the 190k ppv buys, dont blame kov,he is russian and most of wards fights have been in oakland, with that said, him being an olympic medallist, shouldnt he be selling ppvs like hot cakes?Casual sports fans will always be enthralled by a simple brawl. @ your politics-related comment:
No, i'm not a *******. I'm not involved in any political bull**** that runs rampant on this site with **** posters like you turning every subject into something about presidents or political ideologies. If you voted for Hillary, Trump, Sanders, whatever, idgaf, keep that to your self or go to one of the many lounge threads where losers are insulting themselves over what their political ideologies are or what Trump is doing next, or who's right or who's wrong, ******s, FBI, blah blah, blah. Booooring.Comment
