I dont think you make sense..If ward let his hands go and make Kov quit in round 3,why would be the point of going 12(on most of his fights)..If you think Ward will KO kov you are in for a rude awakening..You wanna make a friendly bet that you are wrong?cant bet my sig or account since that is already in the books,but maybe 1 dollar if that is not illegal in your state?

So I see people can't see the difference between appreciating something and liking something... Eh, it is what it is. I don't like many fighters, but I appreciate what they put on the line for entertainment. Ward knows better than to expect that from boxing fans though. It is what it is.

He's nothing more than Sammy Sosa of boxing. The sport looks the other way why he cheats to win.

It's a weird thing with Ward. I've enjoyed Mayweather's style for as long as I've been watching boxing, yet have never warmed up to Ward's... even though they're essentially the same. I can't explain that one. Maybe it's Mayweather's hype-building skills I enjoy too.

Also, what Ward said about blood-and-guts fighters being forgetten after they're done at the top level... I can't agree. Plenty of fight fans will remember the slugfests by the guy in my avatar, or even Brandon Rios, but in all honesty who is going to remember an exciting Ward fight?

It's not about style with these racist fans on here. They like the "Black fighter." They could not careless if the fighter clinches or runs for 12 rounds. But when Wlad clinches - they cry and when a White fighter runs (I actually couldn't even name one White fighter who is known for running) they'll cry about that too.

Anyone who thinks "Clinching" is good for boxing is a total idiot and not even a boxing purist - that used to get fighters disqualified - now in this new PC culture we live in - Clinching is actually encouraged by the officials with no in-fighting permitted.

I think is quite simple...

Casual sports fans will always be enthralled by a simple brawl. They will be just as happy watching a hockey fight as Barerra-Morales. Andre Ward is talking about boxing fans being able to appreciate skill & tactics. Casual fans generally don't even recognize those things, and Kovalev's fans seem to refuse to acknowledge them.

I can kinda understand the casual fans, what with their limited investment and their 4-minute attention span..... a 12 round fight may be a little too long for those guys..... but supposed knowledgeable insiders like Merchant/Lampley?

So you haven't realized the shift in the boxing scoring system - where defense is now rewarded even more so than offense and no one ever gets a point deducted or DQ'd for clinching?
