We dont Talk about football players (another contact sport) trying to Maximize their Profits. The best play the best, and oh by the way, they make A Lot of Money on the way. Would u like MLB teams to only play against AAA minor league teams? Should the best NBA teams not play in the NBA finals? It makes no sense. The fans want the best Fighting the best. We Pay the bills.

the best have never fought the best fight after fight. they used to fight more, but they didn't defend their championships every time they did fight. they'd sometimes tune up against guys worse than rod salka, and the reason they did that was to get paid and to stay in shape. believe me, if they could take easy fights twice a year for big money, they would!

look at ray robinson's record if you don't believe me. bet you have not!

there have only been a few fighters who truly fought hte best, back to back to back, over their careers. ali is one. leonard is close to being another. both guys suffered career ending trauma, leonard with a busted retina and ali becoming horribly punchy by the end of his run.

don't step to the don, bro. you're gonna lose. just backtrack and move on. i am not making suggestions, i am telling you how it is based on my expertise.

I was wrong, u are right.
Who the **** is a don and what does that even mean? Boxing is about the best Fighting the best. As is any sport. Would u Watch the NFL playoffs if the best teams didn't play each other? In ANY sport, the best should play (Or Fight) the best. In NFL, there are teams that are less good. But theyre still NFL teams. The worst NFL team, with a 0-16 record, is still better than any NON-NFL team u could assemble out of 99.9999% of the World's population.
Same with NBA, MLB, etc.. MLB teams dont play minor league teams (other than maybe exhibition games or something). I'd rather Boxers Fight less often against the best, than try to get Easy PAYDAYS. Boxing is about Winning. If u get Paid by the way, then That's Bonus.

Every NFL players' goal is to make As Much Loot as they can. However, the NFL, itself wants competitive matchups where the best play the best. I want to see the best Fight the best. If the Fighters make A Couple of Bucks along the way, all the better, but nobody remembers Ali, Tyson for How Much they Got paid. We remember their FIGHTS.

the NFL is a league. the players have a union and they negotiate with the league, which is a collection of owners who do much of what a promotor does [market, own or lease venues, negotiate with networks.] boxing is not a league. it is a collection of private interests [promotors and fighters.]

now go find me a fighter who fought the best over and over again. after you actually look at robinson's record. and please don't say mike tyson

Dude, U bought up SRR, not me. I Know he didnt always Fight the best. Im Saying Boxing should be more like the NFL, where maybe youre not Fighting the best 5 Fighters Every Time, but you're still Fighting top level guys in general. As I wrote, even if u take the worst NFL team, and bench all their starters, the second string backups on the worst NFL team would crush any non-NFL team on Earth u could put together. (Same with NBA, MLB, etc.. I just used the NFL example because its a physical sport).
So there is still always some level of competition. Boxing needs to be like that.
So I'll use a tennis as an example (completely different sport, I get it, but at least its an individual sport). Are there even promoters in that sport? There may be, but Im not aware of it. All the players are under the umbrella of the ATP or WTA. Maybe we can have a league like that set up in Boxing?

Ops tempo means everything. Robinson fought 200 fights, so he gets a pass for taking on a journeyman here and there in between title fights and fighting top tier opposition. In an era where the best only fight once or twice per year, then yes, they should absolutely be fighting the best. At least every other fight, especially if they are title holders. If you only fight twice a year, then one of those fights should be against an evenly matched opponent. This is part of what is hurting PPV and cable networks, when you have the best fighting in mismatches against journeymen for all the world to see.

A guy like Manny Pacquiao shouldn't be giving 20% of his purse to Bob Arum at this point in his career.
