    Sucker Punches In Boxing

Does anyone else have examples of sucker punches in boxing history?

If it was up to me all three of these cowards would be shot dead by a firing squad.

James Butler Jr. vs. Richard Grant

Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Victor Ortiz

Leon Dawson Jr. after Andre Dirrell vs. Jose Uzcategui

Floyd/Ortiz is the ATG sucker punch. It was legal, but it was a sucker punch no less. I think Ortiz essentially quit when he did that leaping headbut so I didn't blame Floyd too much, but still think it was cheap and just wish he would have finished the fight.

I guess you forgot Ortiz' flying head-butt that led to the retaliation from Floyd.

He should have kicked that mofo while he was down.

Not really a "sucker punch" but I think Fernando Vargas spit on a dude after he knocked him down.

There was a lot of tension in the build up to that fight though.

I'd rather take a sucker spit than a sucker punch lol.

A sucker punch is hitting someone when they're not expecting it. The ref said fight, Ortiz should have been ready, he was in the middle of a boxing match after all. What Floyd did isn't sucker punch just because Ortiz wasn't paying attention.

Ortiz tried to hurt Mayweather with that flying headbutt.
