Part of me thinks they're all working together behind the scenes. Oscar keeps mentioning Mayweather-Mcgregor, then Dana White comes back and every time slips in a mention of GGG-Canelo and how it's a great fight. Then Oscar comes back and says Mayweather-Mcgregor sucks, which is the only part that doesn't fit the theory that they're working together, but then again why does Oscar say it will suck? Because Mcgregor isn't good enough, he says. So maybe they use that intentionally to prod MMA fans who want to believe he's good enough, and want to watch the fight even more to prove Oscar wrong.
I mean, I really don't know. All I know is Oscar is constantly promoting Mayweather-Mcgregor by mentioning it all the time, going on ESPN to talk about it, writing an open letter about it, etc etc, while Dana White has talked about GGG-Canelo multiple times as well. It certainly seems like they are helping each other, cross promoting, working with each other while pretending to be enemies. What do you guys think? Crazy conspiracy theory, or is this basically how it works in a billion dollar industry like combat sports? All the big players work together to maximize profit, create fake beefs to maximize profit, etc?
Maybe Al and Bob are actually best friends too??Comment

By the way, I know this title is corny, and if GGG looks old against Canelo then I will take this back, but you do honestly have to give Oscar credit for one thing. He barely has any top fighters, and yet he was still willing to put them all in with killers. He's now put his only two elite fighters, and middleweights, in with GGG. He put Matthysse in with some good opponents. Who else does he have? And yet he didn't try to preserve the record of every name guy he has the way Haymon does, even though Oscar has way less name guys! So it's doubly impressive.
You have to give massive credit for that. I just can't forgive him for waiting too long on the GGG fight. Unless GGG's prime is going to last through age 37, 38, Oscar basically ruined GGG's career by delaying the Canelo fight, and thus the move up to 168, by two years when GGG doesn't have time left in his prime for that. We could have seen a lot more legacy fights of GGG if he hadn't been stuck waiting around at 160 for Canelo the last two years.
Of course, he could have said **** Canelo, and I'm if there had been a Floyd or Pacquiao type star at 168 he would have, but 168 has been the least star division in boxing the last couple years. It's too bad GGG didn't come to America sooner, maybe we could have gotten GGG vs Adonis Stevenson at 168 when Stevenson was at 168 lol. That would have been a hell of a matchup. Stevenson probably would have turned it down but still.Comment

This crabs in a barrel mentality is the reason boxing has been relegated to the fringe of major American sports.
In one breathe he attacks the credibility of the sports biggest star while simultaneously providing free promotion for the industry's main competitior.
Boxing is such a bizarre sport on the administrative side. So few sophisticated participants.
And I won't even touch the hypocrisy here. It speaks for itself.Comment

Oscar still hasn't explained why he tried to make Canelo vs. McGregor! If the fight is bad for the sport, and he's trying to be the savior, please explain how Canelo vs. Mcgregor would save the sport!Comment
