Floyd himself said he had to get in the best shape possible to be on a level playing field with Spence. That was real respect

a lot of nonsense on this thread. how can people say with certainty 'oh spence stops mayweather at 40, he wrecks him etc' based on what exactly? Cant just assume mayweathers going to be slow and past it, not really anything to base it on. he didnt exactly look past it to me when he beat pacquiao a couple years ago and hes shown he can come back from long stints out of the ring. I know 40 is old but this is the greatest fighter of this century in my opinion we are talking about. I know he won the fight but by no means did spence look unbeatable against brook, hes a world class fighter but certainly very hittable and mayweather would counter him with that right hand all night long. THeres no blueprint for breaking mayweather down either, it wont happen and hes far too elusive. Beating brook in a competitive fight doesnt suddenly mean he beats mayweather unless having brook on the CV trumps having canelo, pacquiao, de la hoya, maidana, cotto, mosley, hatton, marquez? But then again this is NSB where peoples memories dont seem to extend past the last few months. Ultimately you are talking about a guy with 1 solid win beating an all time great.

Although yes he doesn't only rely on that reach even for that technique, I'm willing to acknowledge that he uses his legs and hips to propell himself forward a lot of the time, but sometimes he doesn't, sometimes he just plants himself down and laucnhes it, you can tell his arms are longer when he does that.
Floyd does not have longer arms than anyone, he is a little short stubby dude. He, imo, is byfar the sharpest fighter in the history of the sport. I have seen this man do many things. Based on what he has done in the ring, no one needs longer arms to do this or do that. He been doing it against guys way bigger, taller, with longer arms.

Not only are their arms longer, but hieght, adds to your reach!

Everything Floyd does is off pure instincts and phenomenal reaction time and awareness.

Should have realised from the start I was arguing with an idiot.

So not only are you arguing against scientific facts (Measuring tape used to measure a fighter's reach) but now you're arguing that there are no techniques that require height and longer arms? So they just give us the tale of the tape for no good reason at all then? They tell a taller, ranger fighter to box on the outside for no reason yeah? Coz no techniques require better reach and height advantage?

Do you even know what a pull counter is? You're basically pulling your head back to avoid the jab and launching the right hand at the end of the jab, meaning that your arm has to be longer than the jabbing arm of the opponent in order for you to connect, because if it wasn't then his jab would be snapping your head back instead of your hitting the opponent with the right hand. I mean it doesn't get any simpler than this.

Reflexes apart, Mayweather's reach advantage is the primary reason why he uses this technique over and over and over in a fight. You have to be quite dumb not to understand this, even more so to argue against scientific facts without evidence (really? Arguing against the tale of the tape that has been consistent throughout a 19 year pro career?)

Anyway this the last time I'm replying to you. Your ignorance offends me.

Maybe the 40 year old Floyd. Spence doesn't have that speed that would trouble Floyd

To me, its not scientific facts. I call them "innacuracies" These same stats claim he is taller than everyone he faces, but he seems WAAAAY shorter in the ring. Its NO WAY he has longer arms than Ghost, Canelo, or anyone else except Pac and JMM. He was virtually taller than them and bigger.

And yes having longer arms will help you but not unless they are WAAAY longer. A couple inches dont really mean anything when we are in the trenches tbh. From my point of view, we both are in hitting distance.

But for Floyd, in particularly, he beat all these young giants with longer arms than him, just because he's so great at what he does.

Floyd fights every fighter the same, and only tried the pull counter on Canelo TWICE. The first round, which didnt land. And the 9th or 10th round, which also didnt land.

Floyd has never used a pull counter on a southpaw until he faced Pacman. Against, sp's, he throws a right hand lead and ducks the oncoming punch, so it LOOKS like a pull counter.

But either way, Floyd kind of leaps with his shots. Like Jones Jr. Idgaf about how long your arms are, Floyd is going to do what he's been doing to guys with longer arms. Beat them. He's just too good.

Mayweather doesnt use this attack "over and over" He uses it every now and then throughout the fight, but he wins the fights off of instinctively popping his opponents, like Bruce Lee, everytime they make a mistake. Its goes a little bit beyond a ****ing pull counter. The pull counter isnt the end all be all dude.

The tale of the tape is not consistant at all. Its always been inacurate. All of the stats have always seemed out of date. Boxrec, just copies their stats! But one thing we know for a fact, is that its plainly absurd to continue repeating lies about how he is taller than Canelo with longer arms. He isnt taller than any of those opponents, not even a little bit.
