Comments Thread For: Kovalev's Trainer Jackson Tried To Jump Ship To Andre Ward's Team?

Jackson was overruled multiple times by conditioning coach in last fight and was silent for much of the end of the match. Kov was kicked out of Abel sanchez' gym for being a **** too. If I was Jackson at this point I'd take a nice payday to give him water this time too, then bolt after he loses again.Comment

True. But it's all about winning, and this is clearly something that disrupts Kovalev's camp. Hell it might be a total gamechanger.Comment

Jackson was not even giving Kov proper advise in the first fight, if you watched the in between round footage he looked kind of lost and just tried to act like everything was going to plan. Compare that to the way Virgil was coaching Ward in between rounds in order for him to make the necessary adjustments and take the 2nd half of the fight.
It seems like theatre to me at times. Andre Ward is probably a special case because they have a real bond.
But with his other fighters it seems like theatrics to me. Pretty sure Khan doesn't listen to a word he says or actually understand him. Khan ain't the sharpest tool in the box and Virgil is an eloquent guy.
I genuinely think most fighters hear nothing in that corner. Might benefit more from a man ensuring they get a drink and helping them fill their lungs with air.Comment

It's a lot worse than I thought. It's weird because "Kovalev won" and got "robbed", why get rid of the trainer who helped you "win"? Trainer-switching is a sign of lack of confidence in a fighter. Trying to put the blame on everyone else but himself. Team Ward did good on not that accepting Jackson in the team and the explanation as to why makes sense.Comment

Ok.. if it's true then Kovalev better come out clean and state the obvious.. Bad move from JDJ, you don't discuss about going to your enemy's corner in the build up to an exciting fight..Comment

He must despise Kovalev if this is really the case, cuz he cud always just leave camp
JDJ seems like a nice guy who wants to help fightersComment
