People forget that Jacobs chin was questioned because of Pirog and Mora but he still went the distance with GGG. It seems to me that 26 yr old Canelo has been improving steadily since the Mayweather loss while the flaws in Golovkin's armor have been displayed more as the level of his opposition has improved. Should be a great fight.
Canelo has improved because his opponents have gotten worse and now he looks great lol

Just imagine that instead, we had Canelo vs Jacobs and Golovkin vs Chavez in the build-up.

Would Canelo have steam-rolled Jacobs ? Doubt it, not sure he would even win.

Would Golovkin have steam-rolled that version of Chavez ? Methinks Chavez would still be in hospital.

So the pre-fight perceptions could have been much different.

But styles make fights. Canelo doesn't have Jacobs size and foot movement, so there will be a lot more contact as they will be in each others range more often. I think to get punches home Golovkin will have to eat some, and Canelo has some pretty quick hands to counter with combos. The fight will come down to how Golovkin feels Canelo's counters - if he realises early he could be hurt, he will be more cautious and if its defence and tactical, it would make for close fight. If Golovkin isn't feeling Canelo's punches and starts to march through them, Canelo will get overwhelmed.

So an interesting fight, I suspect neither will take chances at outset and quite a bit of feeling out and getting the distance for at least a couple of rounds. I suspect someone will land something big around the 3rd, and a fight will break out. If Golovkin backs off and stays cautious, Canelo on points. If Golovkin goes berserk, it will be Hagler v Hearns II.

Canelo can't keep the distance with his feet like Jacobs did, he will have to do it with his fists.
      Wow good breakdown and analysis.

Agreed, GGG is a much more active fighter, and if Canelo doesn't have the pop to slow down triple, he will end like Martin Murray somehow in the 11th.

Dude sit to much on the ropes, fight by spots.

Versus GGG you have to fight every second of the fight, that's what Jacobs did, dude was on fire for 36 minutes.

Canelo is more ice than fire.

But I doubt he can ice triple.

If he had no head movement, Jacobs would've knocked him out. Look a little closer. He's got the reach, he don't have to get in range. Nobody has ever out jabbed him. Canelo has to be in range for this one.

Jacobs was getting tagged all night long by a jab from a shorter man.

Nelo will move his head and place his counters.

I just think Nelo counterpunching won't be effective enough to save his ass from a GGG beating.

Jacobs had the power to keep GGG carefull and honnest.

            Not sure about Nelo.

Jacobs has so much more leverage/lenght and weight in his punches than Nelo...
The thing is that with Golovkin, nobody gets away from that jab. Brook is slick, fast, hard to hit. Jab kept smashing him in the face. I think Golovkin is going to force him to trade. He can damage him to the body, slow the head. If Canelo takes a rest on the ropes in this one, he's taking damage.

Plunge, Nelo is something special IMO.

He beat Cotto, Shane, Lara and Trout.
Ok some were olds, some decisions were close decisions, but still...

We can't act like dude will get steam rolled like Monroe fck mangoose jr.

Dude has movements we're almost not seeing anymore in boxing.

But Golovkin is also a special fighter, you don't become a world champion in ams and pros being a average or just good.

Nelo might probably have the success Kell had early versus Gennady, and Nelo will bring heavier blows.

              Nelo is in the fight.

I agree with you on this one. The only hope Canelo has is to keep throwing uppercuts and hope one lands on the button. And even if that happened, Golovkin might just smile and invite him to do it again, lol.

                  Golovkin aint walking through Canelo

their plan-A sounds about as good as Barrera's was for Ward
Chavez was bought off. GGG won't be, that's the difference

Brook is slick but doesn't have great defense imo, he gets hit too much.

Nelo's problem is he's supposed to Leonard his Hagler in GGG but doesn't have good feet wich is a pitty for the smaller man.

No, but if GGG was forced to make 156 then we could compare him with Chavez.
