it was #1 vs #2
I have never seen a more obvious rematch
the questions between #1/#2 were.....
* can Fury do it again?
* was that an aberration for Klitschko?
props to Joshua for fighting Klitschko, but he only got that opportunity because the IBF stripped Fury..... prior to that he had done nothing
I think "nothing" is a bit harsh. 19 fights in he's won the British title, the world title (I do think we need to give Martin time before we call him the worst world champ ever he's still only had one loss) he beat breazle as well who's gone on to prove himself to be a capeable fighter molina who gave wilder headaches and Whyte who beat chisora- many people rate him as one of furys better wins. All in 19 fights. Compare that to both wilder and fury. What more would you want from him?
Also you never know, aj may have fought klitchko for just the vacant wba belt if he wasn't already ibf championLast edited by Fabes88; 05-30-2017, 07:41 AM.Comment

they can't force anybody to fight for them. fighters have four leagues to choose from. if the IBF is undesirable because they're not corrupt, so be it. kudos to the IBF for having integrity even if integrity is unpopular and unprofitable in boxing.Comment

Fury was quickly stripped because the mandatory was overdue before he ever won the title, he promised to immediately face the mandatory if he won the title, and he lied. He broke his promise and he was stripped.
Martin fought Glazkov, resetting the clock and allowing 12 months until the next mandatory. Had Fury fought Glazkov, the exact same thing would have happened. The clock would be reset and Fury would have 12 months until the next mandatory.Comment

That's what corrupts the sport.
I don't think Charles Martin or Pulev are all that great, but Klitschko was already given a chance to win the title. You can't keep giving him more chances and telling the #1 contender to wait, otherwise in the future that same reasoning is going to be used to avoid a #1 contender who actually is great.
You're not a dummy. You have to see the principle involved here.Comment

No, I got the point, it resulted in a garbage fight and a trickle down effect.
What I'm saying is, people need to get the **** out of here with their hypocritical whining when an Org does something dodgy - every damn day - when they can't give due credit to an Org that stuck by the rules.
Here's an idea - don't lie. It's not hard, but both camps lied. Direct your frustration towards the Promoters who can't tell the truth - if they actually had of, we wouldn't be in this position. Doesn't take much common sense to figure that out.
spot on.
Funny thing is, the people who whine the most about the IBF following their rules are the very same people who babble on and on about how "belts dont matter".
But lets be clear. They arent crying because the IBF followed their rules. They are crying because the IBF didnt do what THEY thought they should do, as if they are the center of the universe or something.Comment

The IBF can't force people to fight for them. The IBF allowed the WBO mandatory (Fury) to take precedence over their own overdue mandatory (Glazkov) on the condition that Fury & Klitschko promise to face Glazkov next if they won.
Fury broke his promise and refused to honor his agreement with the IBF, even though the IBF had allowed him, as WBO mandatory, to take priority over the overdue IBF mandatory.
The IBF went above and beyond to try to keep the titles unified.
But there was no legal basis for the IBF to allow Fury to make a VOLUNTARY defense against Klitschko when he promised to face the IBF mandatory. Glazkov won his eliminator and had the right to fight for the title. When Duva demands a purse bid, the IBF's hands become tied.
If the same thing happens with Pulev, so be it. It's not the IBF's fault. It's Klitschko's fault for believing he is entitled to infinite title shots. He's lost twice in a row. He hasn't won a fight in over two years. In a real sport, he would have to wait his turn.Comment
