I think you're over rating Lemiux. This is a guy who was challenged and taken to deep waters by Marco Freaking Rubio got KO'd, and was out worked by Joachim Alcine

No victory he's had since those loses were as good as Cotto.

I would still favor Cotto to win. Lemieux has power but I don't think he is any more dangerous than Canelo who can box better and hits just as hard. Watch the fight between Cotto/Canelo, Alvarez looks like he is almost twenty pounds heavier than Cotto. He walked through Cotto's punches but he never hurt Cotto either.

There is still some talk of a possible match with Marquez in December as well. However, Marquez seems to be sticking to 147 and won't go any higher. I would still favor Cotto as well.

Cotto is one of my past generation favorite fighters.

But Lemieux might end Puerto Rican boxing for good if that fight happens. Cotto is still far better, but Cotto does get caught, and Lemiuex's offense is crazy.

Lemiuex has gotten better since those fights.

And although Rubio won, he took a hell of a beating that not many fighters, and def not Cotto will be able to take to get there.

I think Cotto is willing to take a risk and face Lemieux because winning would put him in line for the GGG/Canelo winner.

Rubio beat him in Lemieux home town. Rubio who up into that point had only fought outside of Mexico once and that was in a KO loss to Kelly Pavlik.

No fighter that Lemieux has fought since that KO is as good as Miguel Cotto. I'm not convinced he destroys him like you're claiming.

Why do people say this? Lemule has ko'ed legit 160 pound fighters while canelo has been knocking out smaller fighters.

There was never any part in that fight where I thought Canelo could have stopped Cotto. He fought the way he always does. Lemiuex is a different type of fighter and I'd expect Cotto to get hurt. I don't think he will fight Lemiuex anyway.
