Russia is far behind on social issues, racism is not only cool in Russia you will be made fun of for not being racist enough unless you are in some intellectual circles. In this country, say something racially motivated, racial slurs, comments, and someone will be branded a racist and rightfully so. Freedom of speech does not mean without consequence. Social standing, jobs, friendships, everything is compromised by a moment (or a lifetime) of ignorance.

There is justification for this outcry. People often use a joke or one-liner to try to cloak a racial motivated comment and just because someone is joking or appears to be joking does not make it any less offensive and Kovalev has already made other racial statements which support this and other outcries. Not debatable.

If this is just being done to sell the fight and sheep like you go where the shepherd sends you - to the HBO box office site to buy a PPV ticket for the fight - then all well and good.

But didn't Pascal already pull this particular race card on Kovalev and play it to death before his rematch with the big, bad Russian racist, who's best friend in boxing is none other than Bernard "I'll Never Lose To A White Boy" Hopkins?

You are right and i am in no way trying to suggest that we should tolerate racist comments but we should understand that not all people are big thinkers who will reject what is a socially acceptable . Kovalev is just a simple guy who is a products of racist society.

Andre Ward is a Christian role-model and family man, there are few boxers worthy of the highest regard such as Andre Ward for all he has done for this country and the sport of boxing : bringing home a gold medal and many world titles through hard work and many years of sacrifice yet at the same time he has remained humble ; never abandoning his principles and dignity despite these unwarranted insults by Kovalev his promoter and many other critics ( including unprofessional journalist.)

I don't even think Dre would ever use the words “n*gga” and “f*ggot.” ....I could not even engage in conversation with my colleagues about this topic ; Sergay Kovalev has embarrassed the sport of boxing, he should issue a public apology and donate to a civil rights organization of Dre's choice and HBO should disassociate themselves from this man after S.O.G whoops him again.
