I like the idea, though like others have said Netflix would have to offer a live streaming service to make it viable.

I subscribe to boxnation online (which gets me the BN app on Apple TV), and its great not only being able to watch live content but also catch up on cards i might have missed at my leisure. Especially US cards. IF netflix could provide a similar service that would be great.

I think all promoters should be looking at smart TV apps tbh. PBC, Top Rank, MAtchroom etc. This way of watching TV is only going to get bigger in time. Better to be riding the wave than trying to catch up to it.

People dont want to pay massive amounts of money for TV packages with only a handful of channels they actually want.

I see live boxing coming to Amazon before Netflix. They just bought streaming rights to 10 Thursday Night NFL games this year for $50 million. Netflix is more interested in original programming and stand-up comedy. Amazon Prime is the place where you'd see live boxing first.

Ages ago, they used to have a backlog of UFC events. Sure, live streaming is preferable but Netflix could add a dedicated library of classic and great boxing fights that are rewatchable and in HD.

Exactly, if they've proven success metrics with Netflix Original programming why wouldn't they start a Live Sports Outlet? They're trying to be original and increasingly get thr revenues to do it.

I'm not sure if the audience Netflix aim at watch boxing, plus why would someone pay a sub to watch it when one can watch it for free ?

Why wouldn't you do both? Whoever becomes the main player(s) in the streaming world will be doing that I guarantee you that.

These streaming stuff is gonna over take broadcast tv at some future date and all the broadcast networks who don't switch over will die a slow death themselves.

So EVERYONE will have live events & a backlog of anything they show. There will be lil to no ability to exist if you don't in that competitive marketplace at certain point.

Not sure about Netflix, but Facebook, Twitter, Youtube seem more likely.

Like many have pointed out netflix doesn't do live streaming. While it sounds the same to say well streaming is streaming what difference does it make? From a technical standpoint a lot. Right now you have guys who specialize in streaming live TV content and then guys like Netflix who stream a library of on demand content which doesn't work for boxing where watching it live is crucial. At some point it makes sense to do both but why invest time, money and other resources to build your own live streaming just for boxing?

When and if netflix gets in that space it will be to grab a piece of the business slingTV and others are in. As a substitute for cord cutters who want a bundle of TV channels they used to get from cable. But makes no sense to do this now for boxing. There are more lucrative live content that Netflix would do this for long before boxing. I see promoters building their own streaming channels and selling it themselves as a monthly subscription or including it as a channel to be bundled on slingTV and others in that space. And then Netflix doing what big companies do and just buying out a SlingTV or somebody who already has created this technology and has partnerships with all the top TV Channels. That's how boxing would have to get to netflix.
