This was good advice by SRL:

    08/30/2016:

"He has to be mobile, in and out, and try to confuse triple-G.

"He has to do what he does best and be himself, but faster, quicker, smarter, more economical."

And Leonard added that there are lessons Brook can learn from his 1987 Vegas clash with Hagler.

"To maintain the weight was quite difficult, I was kind of a natural welterweight," said Leonard.

"My weight would not go beyond 155 so it was very difficult trying to maintain 160.

"I was trying to figure out what weight I should be. As the fight got closer, I weighed in at 158, which didn't take away from my speed and didn't take away from my mobility.

"Brook has to understand what weight is he most comfortable at, what weight won't take away his speed or his movement.

"I kept moving, I could not stand toe-to-toe with Marvin Hagler. The times I did, was just to release my combinations, and then get back out.

"I could not be a stationary target because it wears you down against a bigger guy, a heavier opponent
    ."

Boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard says Kell Brook will have to be in the best shape of his life if he is to cause an upset and defeat Gennady Golovkin.

Unfortunately, I don't think Kell got the memo!

Spence' style doesn't resemble anything of SRL's style - who does? If anything Brook has more movement and Brook's fight with Golovkin was more similar to SRL-Hagler's fight.

It's Brook that needs to show many angles and gain Spence's respect asap so as not to get flat-track bullied.

This is almost word for word the same advice SRL gave to Kell Brook before he fought GGG.

I think old Sugar Ray likes reminding everybody of his own greatest achievement!

I'm glad that Leonard is a fan of Spence's, as everyone should be. However, I'm tired of him referring to people needing to mimic what he did against Hagler. That's one of the most controversial fights in boxing history. Why would Spence want to squeak by Brook on showy taps and not hammer him if the opportunity presents itself? And Brook isn't that much bigger than Spence (although he is bigger) that he needs to be on his bicycle. Leonard had an amazing career. Every time I hear from him, he refers to this one fight. It doesn't apply for every fight. Sheesh!

If anything Ray has got the styles backwards here. Brook is more the hit and move guy, not as much footwork as Ray obviously. Spence is the pressure fighting southpaw who grinds the other guy down, abit like Hagler, though Hagler showed he could box on the back foot which Spence hasn't had to yet.
