No, Stevenson is the one who first left HBO, then petitioned the WBC to get the purse bid moved up knowing Kovalev wouldn't have financial backing in time to stay in the bid if they moved it up. He could have just waited until the original purse bid date that Duva petitioned for, and the purse bid would have gone off and the fight might have happened. But Stevenson made another strategic DUCK move to move the purse bid up.

This is why you're frustrated talking boxing with us. Because you are missing the key detail in the story that changes who is to blame for the fight not happening. Because you fail to realize you cannot name one time Stevenson ever tried to make the Kovalev fight. It was always Kovalev's side calling him out, asking HBO to make it next, petitioning the WBC to make Kovalev the mandatory, etc etc etc etc. Always Kovalev's side pushing to make the fight, always Stevenson's side making strategic maneuvers to avoid the fight.
