Actually I don't think HBO wants him to because they can't afford it. As for the WBO we will see they could make cotto vs kameghai for a vacant belt if canelo drops it and then make the winner of Liam vs Liam the mandatory defense which cotto could be retired by the time they actually enforce. My prediction is golden boy and WBO work it out so a title is on the line.
He didn't fight on HBO Championship Boxing last year because he got hurt. That's why his December fight was canceled, remember? And you don't have PPV's that close to Christmas.

Oscar has started numerous times that Canelo has one fight on regular HBO per year.

And because HBO didn't want to pay for the smith fight. And if they could of enforced it would have made Canelo fight on HBO his next fight after the injury but they didnt. In simple terms if you HBO with a shrinking budget would you rather pay Canelo almost your entire remaining budget to have him fight a no named fighter in Dec? Or simply collect your cut from him having another big ppv with cotto? HBO shown no eagerness to force Canelo to fight on regular HBO in over 2 years and are literally sending all their top fights to ppv so they they don't have to pay for them but you expect us to believe they will kill a canelo/cotto fight so they can pay canelo money they don't even have? Nice story but I don't buy it. LMAO

That once a year on HBO crap was announced almost 3 years ago when HBO had more money. Things have changed and canelo costs too much money for them to pay for showcase fights on regular HBO. HBO prefers PPVs today.

No. He fought Smith in September on Mexican Independence day. That's a PPV date. The two Mexican holidays are PPV fights. The December date is the regular HBO date. You don't have PPV's that close to Christmas

Yes they were prepared to pay for that December fight. When that fight got canceled they had enough money to pay for three more fights. Hopkins-Smith, Loma-Walters, & Crawford-Molina. None of those fights were gonna happen if the Canelo fight happened

Nonsense tons of examples of ppvs in Dec most recent last year mega fight with ronda rousey. Again what financial sense does it make to pay Canelo rather then collect money from a canelo/cotto ppv? The landscape for HBO has changed look at their calendar starting last year with them passing on fights and sending them to ppv. 3 years ago kovalev/ward rematch would be on regular hbo it's on ppv despite the first fight only doing 160k ppv because HBO can't afford it. Canelo himself would cost more then both ward and kovelev will be paid. HBO doesn't want to pay Canelo. Only fights they are airing on regular HBO are cheap fights.

Here is an article from when he signed with RNS back in March 2015:

            http://thaboxingvoice.com/roc-nation.../41781/?var=no

It states that Cotto confirmed to ESPN that he signed a 3 fight deal worth $50 million, plus received a $5 million dollar signing bonus.

That's $55 milliom, that's crazy. Roc Nation was out of their mind for doing that.

How the assistance for Cotto's concerts in PR, Endorsements and other stuff was structured is unknown. I'm just going by what I read on the fine print.

FYI Canelo/Cotto 1 PPV was the last week of Nov you think a week or 2 later in Dec would of made a difference? lol

Lemieux has been calling out cotto that fight with a rehydration clause that says he can only gain 10lbs the next day would be fun. Saunders, Brook, Marquez, etc. Cotto is still a draw and 1 win away from landing another big money fight.

                Cotto-Matthysse catchweight 150

also sounds like a good one for his last fight.

I showed you how they had enough money set aside for the Canelo fight that once it got cancelled they were able to schedule three more fights and you're steady talking nonsense. None of those fights were scheduled until the Canelo fight got canceled.

You showed nothing they said they had money for GGG/Jacobs which was originally supposed to be regular HBO. It got delayed but when it finally happened it was too expensive to pay for so it went to ppv. Canelo costs more then ggg Jacobs. You yourself have argued in other threads HBO refusing to pay for fights anymore but are now acting like they will block making money off a canelo ppv? You are adding a roadblock that don't exist HBO in 2017 prefers ppv. If HBO wanted they would of enforced his very next fight after injury be on regular HBO but they didnt. Canelo signed 3 years ago yet has only fought once on regular HBO which was days after a Mexican holiday so that excuse is BS too. Kirkland was 4 days after Cinco DE mayo. They have not enforced him fighting on HBO because they can't afford it, it makes more financial sense to just collect money off canelo ppvs. If canelo wants to fight cotto in dec HBO will gladly let him.

Good idea for Cotto's next fight after Kamegai.

Lucas is with Golden Boy too so it defintely makes sense.
