You got it wrong roc nation are the ones that look bad here they lost money on every cotto fight and just paid cotto a large check for NOTHING. Let me be humiliated by likely a 5m buyout. Roc nation fired their match maker last week they are a sinking ship.

It's semantics whether cotto officially signs with golden boy or not I think golden boy promoting cotto next 2 fights starting with kamegai. This fight is to knock off the rust and might end up being for a strap. HBO refused to buy this fight unless cotto agrees to give them a bigger fight after just like the Geale fight was only aired because he agreed to fight canelo after. So he will owe HBO 2 fights and golden boy likely promotes both. I think it's kamegai then canelo.

Khan worked with golden boy to fight canelo. What about cotto vs khan after kamegai? Lemieux has been calling out cotto that fight with a rehydration clause that says he can only gain 10lbs the next day would be fun. Saunders, Brook, Marquez, etc. Cotto is still a draw and 1 win away from landing another big money fight.

Golden Boy probabaly wont be guaranteeing Cotto anything, and will do the event on like an 80-20 revenue share, or something like that.....

Either that or Cotto will just pay Golden Boy a flat fee for handling the promotion.....

Say what you will about Cotto being a diva but the guy knows the boxing business.
He signed a 50 million dollar 3 fight deal with Roc Nation even though he was clearly past his prime, and got paid a massive amount for 2 of those fights.
They couldn't make a deal on the 3rd fight so they parted ways with Roc Nation paying him to cut ties and he simply walks to another promoter.

Dude's a hustler. Got to love it.

I can understand both sides, Cotto just wants what he signed up for and Roc Nation couldn't take that hit. They've been losing money signing these guys to big money contracts through fault of their own with amateur promoting and management.

I'm sure Cotto will be more realistic with earnings now for a Kamegai fight in working with Golden Boy. Lol, **** he better or else he's never getting back in the ring. But I'm thinking that Cotto will take what he can get now against Kamegai and look to a big fight to cash out at the end of the year.

10 mil is purse. Balance was ppv share and endorsements (puma)

It's really pathetic. He'd still fight Kirkland if he had the choice.

I think the rumor of him fighting canelo at the end of the year is real maybe in dec.
Canelo is not fighting Cotto in December if he beats GGG. The December fight is Canelo's regular HBO fight. He owes them one per year. Cotto-Canelo is not gonna be on HBO Championship Boxing.

Liam Williams-Liam Smith II is a WBO eliminator. That's who Cotto will fight for the WBO

Yet Canelo didn't fight once on regular HBO last year and hasn't fought on regular HBO in over 2 years I don't think they have anything to force him. Actually I don't think HBO wants him to because they can't afford it. As for the WBO we will see they could make cotto vs kameghai for a vacant belt if canelo drops it and then make the winner of Liam vs Liam the mandatory defense which cotto could be retired by the time they actually enforce. My prediction is golden boy and WBO work it out so a title is on the line.
