What if ggg had turned pro when he was 15

So I'm guessing this thread was made to compare with Canelo since he turned pro at 15, 16 years old.
The thing to know is that in Mexico there aren't many good or any amateur programs. This is why you see a lot of Mexicans with like 50 odd fights by their mid 20's.
Since they start so young, pro boxing is their amateur program. But they get matched softly for many years to learn the trade. Thus why they have twice as many fights as the Olympic amateurs who turn pro.
Triple G has what 350 something amateur fights and Silver medal from the 2004 Olympics.
I think during his teen years he was a jr. welterweight or lightweight.
I'm not sure what weight he would've been at 15, probably jr. welterweight. Tough to know where his career would be and who he would have fought during that time if he turned pro at 15 and how his career would have progressed. It's anyones guess really.Last edited by The Time; 05-17-2017, 12:10 AM.Comment

Who knows and who cares.
The amateur background is indispensable. It is a large part of the reason why fighters from the Soviet system are generally so good. They are much smarter fighters using more advanced techniques, and so that fundamental education is all the more important.Comment

He meant to say PAC and Barrera also fought pro, ****** style at 15 yrs of age. Or if Floyd wasn't pedigreed for the Olympics and winning 3 golden gloves in 3 weights and schooling older men, in sparring at 14, or being Whittakers sparring partner at 16 years of age... yeah surely it's unreasonable that in Mexico or third world countries such regulations are the same as in the USAComment

Some people do care though. They like to compare their weights to their ages at the time. Therefore shouldn't comparing how ggg would have done in the pros at 15 also be relevant?Who knows and who cares.

Ok. So he would have started at about the same weight. So from age 21-26 (9-14 years ago) who would be the top dogs that ggg would have had to fight and how would he have done?So I'm guessing this thread was made to compare with Canelo since he turned pro at what 15, 16 years old.

Southpaws are just wrong for Gennady. The slick ones. Look at the Ouma fight... At 22, Would've lost to no doubt Trout. at 24, Lara, pffffComment

It is impossible to even imagine the result. It is so disconnected from reality that you can only wildly speculate and it serves no purpose.
What if Floyd wasn't raised by a crackhead. We'll never know.Comment
