how has ggg v canelo somehow turned into a 50/50 fight?

If you think Canelito is more skilled than Jacobs you need to soak your head in something besides Vodka.

Put 'em in the ring together and Canelo gets STOMPED.

You all did this with kovalev, after he didnt look great against an awkward chilemba he got written off, talk of him being 'exposed'.

Fighters can have nights where they dont look great. Jacobs was a tough fighter and stylistically light years different to canelo. GGG didnt look sensational but he got the win.

Fact is canelo hasnt been in with a live body for a while. Im not counting the washed up smaller cotto as a legit test either, first of all he was past prime and he had no business fighting at canelo weight. Only reason he was fighting above welterweight is because he got ran out of town by pacquiao, a tiny welterweight who beat him to a pulp. A tiny welterweight who managed to get him out of there, yet the supposedly big power punching canelo couldnt do that?

Hes not beaten a proper middleweight yet? How can people be so impressed with his recent activity? He hasnt beat a proper middleweight but hes meant to go in against golovkin and do a job on him?

I keep hearing how hes improved so much, but to me his opposition has diminished. WOuld the canelo of a few years ago have struggled with khan, smith, kirkland and chavez jr? Im pretty sure he was beating them types of guys a long time ago so how can people be so sure hes improved?

The big difference is firepower. For some reason people are pretending there isnt a size difference but unless my eyes are deceiving me, golovkin is significantly larger and despite what people on here say, his power is a hell of a lot more proven.

We just saw canelos power doesnt carry up. He literally had a punchbag in front of him for 12 rounds and he couldnt drop him, let alone get him out of there. The shots just bounced off him. Just as the shots will bounce off golovkin. To be honest was he ever considered a power puncher until he beat kirkland and khan, the two chinniest fighters going? Is that what it takes to be considered a power puncher, shatter two glass jaws? Yet not display that pop in pretty much all the other big fights hes had?

I dont understand how if jacobs, lemiuex, stevens all couldnt hurt him, that canelo who couldnt get miguel cotto out of there is going to be able to hurt him? Really? Even shot old mosley went the distance.

Canelos got some tidy combinations sure. But his footwork is poor and slow. Hes not that elusive. With his style he would need to outgun golovkin and hes not capable of doing that.

The fight might not look that dissimilar to golovkin v brook. I think canelo will have more success than brook, but the patterns going to remain. A skilled guy who is ultimately outgunned not having the footwork to get out of danger, and not having the power to keep golovkin off of him. He will have some early success but he will get broken down.
ggg was favored by many fans, media and experts but most of them had this as a competitive fight, there is a reason they were screaming for this fight even back then...
since then must unbiased experts have aknowledged canelo improving on a fight by fight basis, unlike ggg who didnt show any progression since then, so the gap closed and now many have changed their opinions, is not like is a conspiracy or crap, the odds are also almost even for a reason...
this went from ggg being the favorite on a competitive fight to now almost a 50-50 fight, not rocket science about it...
dont be surprissed if a week before the fight canelo becomes the odds favorite as most media starts spreading their predictions...

A lot of analysts, "boxing" experts are saying that this is a close fight or a 50/50 fight.

Las Vegas has Golovkin as a 2-1 favorite.

I see it as close, because there are way too many intangibles in this fight to know exactly what's going to happen.

I don't think it's going to be an easy fight for either of them.

Canelo's best wins are Trout, Lara and Cotto

Golovkin's best wins are Lemieux, Brook and Jacobs

This will be Canelo's first legitimate Middleweight fight. Respect to him for choosing Golovkin as his first real legitimate Middleweight fight.

Another reason why it's viewed as close or why a lot of people think Canelo can win is because if it goes 12 rounds and it looks like to our eyes watching that Golovkin won 8 rounds to 4 or 7 rounds to 5, they are going to give the fight to Canelo.

To our eyes it has to look like Golovkin won 9 rounds to 3 or more for it to be obvious where they have to score it for Golovkin.

Golovkin either has to look like he really dominated or won most of the rounds or knock Canelo out to get the win.

It's going to be a good fight, tough fight.

There are a lot of different ways this fight can end and almost all of them are realistically possible.

That's why people see it as a close fight.

Only Canelo can improve. Jacobs can't, especially because he lost to a "eurowhite trash", or whatever NSB is hating on these days.

My opinion hasn't changed much. We finally saw Golovkin against a good fighter so that helped answer a lot of questions. For me, it confirmed that Canelo/Golovkin would be competitive. For others, it changed their minds from heavily favouring Golovkin to seeing it 50/50.

I've been saying it's a 50/50 fight for 1.5 years now, so nothing new to see here.
The old odds of 5-1 in Golovkin's favor were crazy. Canelo will be bigger, faster and 10 years younger.

I always thought it was a close fight, I just gave Canelo **** for a while for delaying the fight. The truth is Canelo is more primed for the fight now and GGG is older and losing some of that invincibility aura.

Golovkin's last 2 opponents, Brook and Jacobs at 160 lbs, are more dangerous and testing than anybody Canelo has ever beaten.

Has Canelo ever walked out to a packed arena booing and jeering him like he was a *****phile, to face a hyped up, elite opponent who surprised the heck out everybody by taking his best shots and hitting back hard enough to lift his feet clear off the canvas ... and won?

Has Canelo ever been in with a prime, power punching opponent 10/15lbs heavier than him, who came in with a great game plan that was working, and had to find a plan B, of the hoof, in order to avoid getting a boxing lesson .. and found that plan B .. apparently, without any help from his corner?

No he hasn't, and the way Oscar has kept Canelo wrapped in cotton wool throughout his career is going to be a major handicap for him to overcome next Sept.

Kell Brook would box the pants off Canelo at 160, btw.

I still see it as 60/40 in favor of Golovkin.

Jacobs just showed us what everyone already knew and Canelo is going to further more, show people like the bigdramashow exactly what we've been seeing for 5 years.
