Comments Thread For: Frank Warren: Joshua is Not The Real Champ Until He Beats Fury!

According to promoter Frank Warren, Anthony Joshua (19-0, 19 KOs) is not the true king of the heavyweight division - until he defeats Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs). Last month before a record crowd of 90,000 at Wembley in London, Joshua catapulted to the top of the ranks when he stopped Wladimir Klitschko to unify the IBF, IBO, WBA heavyweight titles.

I don't agree with Frank Warren too often but this time I agree but only if Fury actually does come back. It's similar to what many thought before Mike Tyson fought Michael Spinks. Until Tyson beat Spinks he was not considered the lineal champion because Spinks never lost the title in the ring. They stripped him of the belt because he chose to fight Gerry Cooney instead of his mandatory Tony Tucker...

Well done Frank, absolutely no flaws in this logic particularly given current circumstances

Fury is not the real champion until he beats the drugs and the booze .Lets see what happens with Fury who is at this time grossly overweight and obviously nowhere near fighting fit.I hope he can get those demons out of his head that can't be nice.He then has to prove himself as he himself said and lets go from there .Frank is talking bollocks and just wants a piece of any action. If the time ever comes for Tyson to fight AJ. I am sure we'll know and won't need ole cod eye's to tell us.

The real champion wins in the ring not being what will be nearly3 years out on twitter by the time he steps in to fight. Vitali Klitchko could hold more of a champion claim at this stage from how he went out..

anthony "biblical" joshua has never beat a real champion in the ring and never will the only reason he was able to get past clutchko is because tyson fury softened he up first

Klitchko was more of a real champion than fury. At least he defended his belts

Fury was an embarrassment who didn't even defend his belt let's not forget that. I wouldn't be proudly sprouting he's the world champion after the disrepute he brought the sport. Say what you want about aj but at least he's defended his champ and beat the man who was the lineal champ for 10 years.

It's not ajs fault fury is a fat unmovitaved bastard who pissed it all away the moment he got to the top. The world doesn't stop because fury decided to be a fat cow. Granted he is the lineal champ but that doesn't take away from anything that Joshua has achieved.

Nonsense Warren. Fury relinquished his title because he was unable to fight. Joshua is number one in the world, but for him to be world champion he will need to beat Wilder, the other leading claimant. But to say Joshua isn't champion until he beats Fury is like saying Jack Johnson wasn't champion until he beat Jeffries.
