Canelo learned a lot in that fight, and as a consequence he is now better, smarter and also is bigger and stronger... canelo still has room to learn and improve , i wouldnt give same credit for beating a 22yo canelo at 152 compared to a 29 or 30yo canelo at 160... now if canelo beats ggg and then floyds fight him again then that will be something different...
Hate it or Love it but if Canelo wins Mayweather's legacy only grows

Canelo was 23 and had the Trout victory already so I'm not buying the green excuse.
On the weight issue maybe you are right maybe you are wrong and Mayweather will still school him because Canelo is not even a big middleweight.
I think history wont care because history didnt care for everybody else that was or is in these type of situations.Last edited by Leon_Degrelle; 05-14-2017, 11:45 AM.Comment

You will be in the minority based on the trend of history if Mayweather never rematches Canelo.Canelo learned a lot in that fight, and as a consequence he is now better, smarter and also is bigger and stronger... canelo still has room to learn and improve , i wouldnt give same credit for beating a 22yo canelo at 152 compared to a 29 or 30yo canelo at 160... now if canelo beats ggg and then floyds fight him again then that will be something different...
Sometimes I agree with that history and sometimes I dont.
In this situation I do.
I dont care what version of Canelo shows up, IMO Mayweather owns him.Last edited by Leon_Degrelle; 05-14-2017, 11:44 AM.Comment

Floyd should have came back to fight Alvarez when stole Cotto's Lineal. Be it 155, it's still Middlweight, and Floyd would have proven to supersede even Lineal Mythology becuase he beat Cotto before. Thus, FLoyd should've fought Alvarez again to be a 6 Division Champ and Lineal at 160. It was such a great PPV too before... Financial and historically it all makes sense.
Therefore, 155 for Floyd would be no problem for Golovkin correct? Floyd is so high caliber it even drowns Golovkin not taking the 155 catchweight with Nelo.Comment

Canelo was 165 on fight night against Mayweather. Canelo had to be off PEDs in order to fight Mayweather. He needed to lose extra muscle mass to make weight. He was 172 against Trout. From my perspective I dont buy the whole green argument when HE ALREADY HAD THE TROUT WIN BEFORE THE MAYWEATHER FIGHT.
I can see how the catchweight can have effected him but Canelo himself is on the record telling David Failtelson after the Mayweather fight there is no such thing as shoulda, coulda, woulda when Failtelson asked him if he thought he was too green for this fight.
IMO the boxing lesson was so bad I dont believe Canelo could ever beat Mayweather.
PEDs do make a difference. Without his juice he's not that good.
Also the weight draining made him weak.
He is good, but not elite without PEDs and weight bullying of opponents.
Mayweather just proved that Canelo without PEDs and a weight advantage, is not what he is when he's on his juice. Chino Maidana did way better than him.Comment

Give me a ***ing break you bum. So in your eyes if Canelo beats GGG that means Mayweather beats him too? Gtfoh with that ****** ****.For the people that will come up with excuses about Canelo being green or the catchweight nobody for the most part cares whether true or not.
Just like nobody cares that Pacquiao beat a Cotto post Margarito beatdown, after arguably losing to Clottey with a slight beating along the way, the catchweight, and having that clown of a trainer instead of his uncle.
Same way that nobody cares that Salvador Sanchez beat Wilfredo Gomez at a weight that he was never really the monster he was at. Also supposedly Wilfredo basically never really trained for that fight.
Nobody also cares Buster Douglas beat a non training, party animal, and drug using Tyson. All people remember is that Tyson got his ass beatdown by a supposed bum.
History will remember that Mayweather gave a boxing lesson to one of the greats of that era and for this reason as much as I dont like Canelo im rooting for him cause Mayweather is my favorite fighter lol
Dont act like some of you guys dont also have these type of situations when your favorite athlete or team will benefit from the athlete or team you dont like wins.
Any of you dudes in the same boat though?
Mayweathers career was good but he fought in literally one of if not the weakest eras in history.
His best wins came against fighters who were all well past it. And for his win against Canelo he was as green as they come and was weight drained like a mfer. Canelo only went through with that fight because he has balls and was willing to comprise being weight drained and not being at 100% just for that shot as he knew that's the only way Mayweather would have fought him.
You are giving major credit for Mayweather beating Canelo and you say if Canelo beats ggg that that enhances Mayweather even more.
Well if Canelo beats GGG then somehow Mayweather finds his balls and fights a rematch with a true prime and healthy Canelo, will people give Canelo that same credit if he best Mayweather or will people say he fought a past prime washed up mayweather?Comment

Nah.
That win for Floyd was very good, but it was a novice Canelo at 152. The current version is significantly better, stronger, has a much higher ring IQ and has a lot of top level experience.
You get the credit for the version you beat, not what they go on to become.Comment

He was 23, and he'll be 27 when he gets in the ring with GGG.I agree. But as some others had said, Alvarez was a pup fighting a legend. How old was Nelo, 21-22?
For casuals in any era, they will make decisions by the eye test alone. NSB or forum drama will be non existent as time goes on. The Mayweather family are undoubtedly the best boxing family of the late 20th century carried over.Comment
