1. Actually, there is. That's whenever an agreement can't be reached.
In the case of Linares, PBC has to deal directly with his promoters (Teiken and Golden Boy). Why would they even consider handing over promotional rights for B-Side money vs. Garcia?
2. Golden Boy dropped Ortiz after demanded for more money to defend his interim title vs. 41 year old Alexander Ustinov . That was supposed to be the co-feature on the Canelo-Liam Smith.
Unbeaten veteran Cuban heavyweight Luis Ortiz and his promoter, Golden Boy, struck a seven-figure settlement to split, freeing the fighter to pursue bouts in Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions.
Ortiz was featured on 3 HBO cards prior to the split and was in line to fight for a vacant title. Ortiz was naive to think Golden Boy would give him more money to fight a 41 year old Ustinov and his bluff was called.
I'm calling bull**** on the supposed court record.Comment

Maybe I just dont get it. But why the obsession on here about TV channels? They can Fight on ESPN, HBO, SHO, heck they can Fight on Cartoon network. Who cares? Maybe Im missing something, but why does it matter what channel Boxing is on?Comment

This is a trend I'm noticing. These promoters will use PBC B-side fighters to fight their A-side's but they aren't even sending their B-sides to fight PBC A-side's. There is no reason Linares shouldn't be fighting Garcia. Or Bradley & Vargas should be out this long when they could be fighting PBC welterweights.
What was Haymon risking having Khan fight Canelo on PPV? Khan wasn't figure into Haymon's plans at welterweight beyond being an opponent and why not make Golden Boy over pay for him and maybe you get lucky and devastate HBO with an upset? Chavez Jr was a similar situation. There wasn't much to do with him anyway, make GBP pay top dollar and if you get an upset, HBO is ****ed.Comment

PBC has more world champions than ever, more dates from Showtime than ever, Showtime spending more money than ever, and the recent fight on CBS did over 5 million viewers.
Meanwhile, HBO barely has any non-PPV fights anymore.
It's HBO that is as good as dead, not PBC. Haymon's experiment forced CBS to increase the Showtime budget and now Haymon's stable is making way more than it was ever making on HBO.Comment

What you're missing is that the sport is divided into two camps. Those with Haymon and those with HBO. The two rarely work together. So it's not just about what channel shows a fight, it's about what fights are possible based on who is aligned with which faction.Last edited by original zero; 05-15-2017, 01:20 AM.Comment

they obviously did fail. pbc was originally created to bring back boxing to the "mainstream" and be their own league like ufc. they have lost money and nbc espn and spike gave them the boot. al gaymon failed miserably. I know it hurts you guys to admit which is hilarious by the way.Comment

exactly the faster al gaymon is dead the better off boxing fans will be because HBO damn sure ain't going nowhere.Comment

Everyone always thought that the very point of PBC screwing up GBP and signing all their 200 fighters with them was to become self sufficient and make every fight in house. Haymon fans were celebrating in the streets chanting PBC would make HBO irrelevant. Funny that these same people are still whining and crying when there are still fights that could be made inside the PBC premises: Swift vs Broner, Swift vs Berto, Swift vs Porter, Porter vs Thurman 2, Peterson vs Thurman, Porter vs Spence/Brook winner, Porter vs Peterson, Thurman vs Spence/Brook winner, Lara vs Andrade, Lara vs Williams, Lara vs Charlo, Williams vs Andrade, etc.
They can even make Mikey vs Easter if they wanted to. Or Mikey vs Broner, etc.
Point is they don't have to look outside. Haymon made these people inactive.Last edited by al-Xander; 05-15-2017, 01:23 AM.Comment
