  • Comments Thread For: Gary Russell Jr. Says a Rematch With Lomachenko is Personal

By Thomas Gerbasi - Gary Russell Jr. may be the most patient man in boxing. So it was no surprise that he didn't get rattled when the second defense of his WBC featherweight title against Oscar Escandon was postponed from March 11 to May 20 due to an injury suffered by the challenger. But that cool could also apply to the career and life of the 28-year-old southpaw...

Oh, Salido's grandson is talking, still salty. It wasn't Lomachenko who beat you, it was that sauna. You'd still beat Lomachenko 99 times out of 100. And 98 out of 100 after rematch

He has to get more active and relevant before asking for a rematch against a guy who's planning to move up for bigger fights than GRJ can offer. He was prospect of the year but he's fighting 1 time a year now, it seems like Lomachenko ruined that Haymon's investment

But people forgot how good GRJ is - he managed to get a draw from one judge on the scorecards

I thought Josh Warrington was WBC #1 mandatory @ 126Lb. So when's he get his chance?

no chance. lomachenko would beat gary tba russell 1000 times out of 1000. lomachenko took that boy's soul and heart in their fight. russell the ugly hobbit should just retire he doesn't have his heart in it anymore.

Gary Russell has either no hope or the late Bob Hope against Chenko.

I'd actually be interested in a rematch. Probably one of the few, though.

But yeah, I have pretty strong doubts as to whether Russell could improve on his performance from the first fight. Lomachenko has just gotten better and better. Which is a scary thought. Dude pretty much dominated that fight and is actually leaps and bounds better than he was then.

Gary Russell is very good and might still be the toughest fight for Lomachenko. He would certainly be a tougher fight than that coward Rigondeaux. In fact, I'd like see Rigondeaux prove his worth for once in his career and move up and face Gary Russell Jr.. Let's see if he can do what Lomachenko did.

I'd watch it...but that fight doesn't warrant a rematch right now. If russell unifies at 126 and moves to 130 and loma is still there, that would be a good time for a rematch.

Russell is as talented boxer, but i dont think he really likes it anymore.
He fights once a year and everytime talks about retirement in 2 years.
