if Canelo beats Golovkin, and fights Saunders next..... how fkn embarrassing would that be for Golovkin?

Golovkin would have talked about unification for 10 years

Canelo would have done it in 10 minutes

It's called "pick up option" its one of the reasons Chavez Jr shhtted all over Arum and why even a Lomancheko vs Garcia fight would be a nightmare to negotiate.
Interesting stuff. I promoted concerts and other events for years, but only co-promoted one local boxing card, probably close to 30 years ago. Wish I'd gotten into promoting more of those while I was still young enough to do it. Small time promoting is for the younger guys to do.

Dude boxing promotion is so f'ing difficult. I have a business rival who parlayed into boxing promotions about 3 years ago and went out of business late last year, it was a pit of losses. We've actually become friends since we are no longer business rivals but man some of the stories he had to tell...extortion six ways to Sunday. People think the mob no longer has a hand in boxing until you hear these kind of stories. He had to give up part of the gate, merch, and they literally pocketed all of the food/beverage money. This was a guy who wasn't anywhere near TV level of events either.

Not good if the fight is something like 6-6, or 7-5 Canelo were need a rematch you won't see it

Geez, sad to hear. But not surprising. I could tell some stories about concert promoting, very cut throat as well. Everybody had their hand out looking for money there also. Not to mention all the hours involved, and on the road a lot. SMDH

When I read about or go see any event now, it gives me a whole new appreciation for everything it takes to make it happen. It's wild the stories I used to hear about a venue in Atlanta and some others that used to do boxing. The promoter finally gave up after so many fighters just wouldn't show up. Got tired of the crowds complaining and demanding refunds. Yep, a wacky biz indeed.

I'm sorry, you mean PED'd pacquaio? Yeah, I don't even count his fights at that time. Did he stop algeri?, how about Rios? How about Bradley? Bradley stopped Rios, why couldn't Manny? How about Vargas? Get outta here with your bs...as soon as testing started...mannys KOs stopped.
