Did a quick study on the Top Live Gates and PPV Buys over the past 7 years.

This was very interesting result so I thought I'd share it with everyone. I chose 2010 because UFC "is growing and growing" since then, and boxing is "dying". So I took the highest live gates from each sport.

**In all cases I removed Mayweather-Pacquiao numbers because that would not be fair.**

Live Gate Revenue average from 2010 - Today

• UFC: 5,070,218
  
• Boxing: 9,826,605

PPV Buys Average from 2010 - Today

• UFC: 886,428
  
• Boxing: 1,146,428

Now - PPV buys is difficult because UFC is a private company and isn't required to release their numbers. Revenue is difficult as well because of this. I took the highest fight for each sport each year. Also keep in mind a Boxing PPV is more expensive than an MMA PPV.

**For 2015 I tallied zero for boxing and used that in the average

UFC has good and bad years, just like boxing. Aside from 1-offs like Floyd and Conor, would be nice to see how the #'s play out. I think boxing thinks (correctly) that the UFC is weak right now with Ronda gone and Conor on hiatus and can really start making a play for the casuals..

UFC keeps their numbers largely secret so they can pay their fighters pennies on the dollar.

if you dont mind the extra work, you should put the trend also in your statistic. And you should add Mayweather Pacquiao numbers, just use median instead of average. So that really big numbers or really low numbers dont affect the numbers too much.

I call bs.

Source of the boxing PPV's numbers you used. There is absolutely no way the "average" boxing PPV did 1.1M. There's only 21 boxing PPV's in the 3 decade history of PPV that have done that many or more buys & there are a few hundred boxing PPV's that have taken place in that period of time.

I'd even say the UFC 886k number is high since there are only like a dozen-ish UFC PPV's that have done 886K+ PPV's in the last 6 years & they've had a PPV every month for that entire period so that's like 72 PPV's total with only 12 doing that number or better & with their high number being 1.6M. I don't think its even mathematical possible to get a average that high based on the stuff I'm bringing up.

You could include 900k canelo cotto and the huge PAC Floyd for 2015 butthats the year UFC started getting more popular in the mainstream.
