Especially when the A side has a fight after you that will do around 1m buys. Yes jacobs bombed and yes it was ****** for them not to agree BEFORE those numbers came out. Even Oscar said they were taking the offer off the table due to the numbers GGG drawed against jacobs and giving a new offer based on GGG current market value. That fight was used against GGG by golden boy.
GGG never expected to get 50/50. The 15m offer was as much of a joke as mays 40m offer to PAC. I don't think you were around the board at that time, but I have a feeling you were a staunch defender of mays offer.

It will make him ONE of the big names.

But to your point about money. You should check out the history of big money fighters in boxing. A guy like GGG is only as good as his dance party for PPV fights. This fight with Canelo should do around 1.5 million or so buys. But after that I doubt GGG will crack 1 million buys again.

He's more of a Roy Jones, B Hop type of fighter in terms of following. Those guys could never sell a 1 million PPVs. I think B Hop did it once (only because he was fighting De La Hoya ) and Roy never sold more than 500k in PPV buys (his best was John Ruiz w/ 525k).

I like GGG but I don't think he'll ever be some huge seller. That just how boxing goes. He's fighting the big seller (Canelo), that's likeky his only huge pay day.

There have only ever been 4-6 guys who could carry a PPV card in the US in the entire history of the sport. (Tyson, Evander (most due to Tyson), Oscar, Floyd, Manny, and now Canelo sort of).

He'll walk away like Hagler did. There won't be anybody left to fight. (Maybe Charlo, but why would he?)

2 weeks? Easy to deal with? Where are all the Canelo fan boys who have been saying for the past 7 months that ggg is pricing himself out and doesn't want to take these supposed offers that golden boy was graciously extending??

A whole lot of folks were posting about the financial end and getting carried away with dumb ideas devoid of rhyme or reason. Bigdunny put together a good analysis. We will see how it actually played out if the reporters, oops I mean writers, do their job and find out the details.

Once Golden Boy was ready it was always going to be easy. K2 was desperate to make it and would jump at anything halfway reasonable. It was always Golden Boy holding things up.

Phuk boy you idiots said the fight wouldn't happen and that canelo was scared I told you it was all business and GGG could of got the fight last year if he dropped weight but chose not to then was offered a fortune and turned it down. Now he cuts a deal in 2 weeks BEFORE the canelo/Chavez ppv numbers come out because he has no choice the offers will only continue to come down. Glad the fight is made but hilarious listening to clowns like you who were proven wrong. You upset because GGG got bent over and ****d in negotiations. The fight is happening on canelos terms with him making more money then he would of last year and less going to GGG. Oscar said that the previous offer is no longer in the table and cited the reason being the poor ppv numbers from the jacobs fight and that they needed to make a new offer based on where GGG is now compared to last year. It was GGG Mr I'm not a business man who out his own mouth said he demanded 50/50 split. Will be fun to see when the details come out because he's not getting 15m now.

Hold on a minute. Let's see what the details are. I would be surprised if GGG gets much more that the offer made public by GB. If it is much the same, the logical question is why did it take so long for Golovkin to sign on? If GGG's actual share is much more than $15 million plus the small upside that was offered, then waiting was a smart move.
