He almost got dropped by cotto's brother but I'm sure someone will make an excuse for it. Or will say he wasn't that hurt.Comment

Canelo definitely has the speed advantage, they're both going to be strong. Canelo has enough power at 160 to keep Triple G honest. Triple G has the edge in power. But Canelo is going to have enough power at 160.
Canelo is precise, skillful, accurate. Has good upper body defensive skills.
Triple G is accurate as well. That jab is going to give Canelo trouble. They both are going to hit to the body.
They both are going to be trouble for each other I think.
The thing is there are lots of intangibles in a fight like this. A lot of different things can happen. With Canelo's quicker hands and combos, he has the ability to swell Triple G's face up over the course of fight and perhaps open a cut. Triple G has the ability to swell Canelo's face too.
Canelo because of his quicker hands will probably land more punches. Triple G I'm sure will make his punches count. Kind of hard to say exactly what happens in a fight like this. I mean I'm leaning towards Triple G. But with so many intangibles, a lot of different things can happen. But my early prediction right now is Triple G. I haven't finished analyzing completely so this may change. But for right now I lean towards Triple G.
It's a win for the fans though, that's for sure.Comment

Canelo was on ***** street in that fight against Jose Cotto. To his credit he survived and got the knock out win later in the fight. What was Canelo at that time? I think he was 19 years old if my memory serves me well. Jose Cotto couldn't follow up on hurting Canelo, opportunity missed. Good on Canelo to recuperate and show poise in that situation, being that he was 19 years old.Last edited by The Time; 05-07-2017, 11:03 PM.Comment

it's not just about quicker hands landing more punches.
Jacobs has quicker hands than even Canelo...... and more importantly, Jacobs has longer reach and was a taller target.
GGG still outlanded Jacobs with technique and precision.
With Canelo, he can't even reach beyond GGG's jab who will be jabbing downward. Jacobs could've thrown at the same time as GGG's jab and reach GGG. but with Canelo he legit wont' get around his jab.Comment

Speed is even. GGG has the faster feet by far. Canelo has faster hands. Feet > hands in boxing.POWER: Golovkin is definitely the harder puncher. He has thudding power that hurts every time he hits you. I believe Canelo has more "One Punch" KO power and is more explosive, but GGG has the type of power that when he hits you, you freeze and your whole game plan goes out the window. He has a better KO ratio & he has stopped/dropped much bigger guys than Canelo. [Advantage: Golovkin]
SPEED: This is an easy one. Canelo has the faster hands and can throw very explosive/quick combinations. [ADVANTAGE: Canelo]
TECHNIQUE: Canelo has very good boxing skills but I would say GGG is the superior boxing technician. He has the best jab in boxing & also a great amateur background. He has seen all types of styles. [ADVANTAGE: GGG]
EXPERIENCE: Canelo has the better resume without a doubt but he has only had 1 fight above 160 pounds. He has never dominated top opposition (in their prime) but only won a close decision. So we need to keep this in mind. GGG has been fighting at middleweight his whole career & he has stopped much bigger men who were in their prime. He also has more than 300 amateur fights and is an Olympic medallist. This is a close one to call but I'll lean towards Canelo because of his resume. [ADVANTAGE: CANELO]
CHIN: GGG hands down. He has never been dropped or visibly hurt or in trouble. His chin has been tested & it has held up. Canelo has never been visibly hurt but then again we have never really see him hit with a good punch by a power puncher. [ADVANTAGE: GOLOVKIN]
FIGHT PREDICTION: I think this will be a great fight in which GGG wins by late TKO stoppage. Canelo has faced skilled boxers but never anyone who was skilled, bigger and has more or just as much power than him. I see GGG controlling him with the jab & landing brutal power punches to force a stoppage via accumulation of damage. I do think Canelo will land on GGG and possibly hurt him but the fire power will be coming back from Golovkin and that is when he is more dangerous.
I'd like to get your thoughts and opinions and perhaps a comparison in other areas like movement, inside/outside game, defense, etc.Comment

Canelo is a good infighter, but I don't think he can survive stayingin there with GGG. Canelo's path to victory is using his speed, boxing, combo and getting out. He also will need GGG's respect, and I think he will have to earn that early.
I think GGG will win, though.Comment

Canelo's advantage is his hand speed. But we all know that is not complemented by a a good footwork.
So GGG's hard jab will be the key here. GGG being taller will be a good complement to that.
Remember, Jacobs is a bigger, probably longer boxer than Canelo (also with good hand speed) and GGG had good success against him.Comment
