Upsets happen and people love them. Of course many fans will be happy if this scenario happened and Canelo/GBP will look like the evil empire got what they had coming, on top of the $8.5 million dollar loss to his former promoter and the whole GGG duck thing.

This is why Canelo has to win, they've been taking L after L outside of the ring. They have to win this and follow up the momentum by signing to fight GGG in September.

If it's a great fight, with Alvarez fading late (possibly even being stopped or losing on the cards), Alvarez fought over his head (was coming up from 154lbs), Golden Boy will target a rematch or Billy Joe Saunders, and go about their business.

If Alvarez gets bowled over in 5 rounds, Alvarez himself will say that 164lbs was simply too big, they'll likely target David Lemieux next, and they'll continue going about their business.

Alvarez is a big enough star at this point that his rep can stand a defeat; if he were to get washed in back-to-back fights, we'd have a real conversation
