Why is GGG-Canelo perceived as a close matchup?

Canelo is dense but a small guy and doesnt have the quickest foot work. He seems like a tweener. Too big for 154 but not quite enough for 160.

He's yet to beat a live MW opponent so what makes you believe that he'll compete with GG?

Because body frames like Vinny Paz or Duran prove that Lightweights can dish it out above 160...

Duran says Nelo will KO Gennady so go figure.... youth and expert opinions matter

and wasn't Alvarez a 20 year old sparring Golovkin? that says much..

You lost me when you said Canelo is a small guy. He was rehydrating to low 170s 4 years ago when he was a kid.

Dude has been putting on 20 lbs after weigh in because he was still young. Now that his body is maturing, he's not taking those risks with his body and will put on the 15 or 10 that most other fighters put on after weigh in. He will be plenty big for 160, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him at 168 in mid 30s.

Good defense and power? Should be a really close match up.

Golovkin beats the dog piss out that punk. There's a damn reason the little f@g dropped his belt, and starved himself to make 154. He knows what would happen to his slow, flat footed ass

its not a close match up and the hype for that fight is gonna die down overnight after we see how much he struggles against chavez jr. canelo never was and never will be elite.

Does anyone still care about that fight? One guy arguably got beat, others in a circus act. Fight lost relevance last year, lets move on

Canelo's nickname could be Tank. A tweener my a$$. He's gonna love that 164.5 weight division he just created for his next fight. And I'll predict he comes in at 162.5 or max weight for the JCC Jr fight with a giant smile & a full belly.

But I think its a competitive fight purely on the basis of them being hands down the best two guys at 160. I think most divisions top two guys would make for competitive fights. I think Canelo wins doe (& I've been saying that before these Benedict Arnold fairweather mfers who done flipped on GGG post-Brook & post-Jacobs).

                    You're not wrong overall.

Boxing keeps killing its biggest fights by making people wait for them. Personally for me its still #1 on my wanna see list, but it'd be silly to suggest its not losing ground with many hardcore fans.

Boxing loves to make its self more & more irrelevant by trying to sell 250,000+ more PPV's 6+ months from now.
