Ward or Golovkin vs a Heavyweight. Who does better?

No need for heckling. I respect Jozef so I'm not going to turn it into a big back and forth. We each shared our opinions.
Regarding the subject, I agree, it's a bit ridiculous.Comment

No, I think they're about equal. Ward's been dropped by 2 very powerful dudes but has eaten shots by many big punchers without being stunned.
Keep in mind, Golovkin is fighting smaller guys than Ward and hasn't looked vulnerable but has been made to think twice when hit with clean shots. I don't think his chin would have looked any better than Ward's vs Kovalev and I guarantee Golovkin would have been much easier for Kov to hit.
So, as far as chins go, they both have relatively good chins and if they were be hitting by a HW, would probably hold up about the same.Comment

Would GG be fighting a HW after weighing in at 160?
Would Andre be fighting a HW after weighing in at 175?
Either way, Andre would last longer and do better.
Andre is taller and heavier, he has a bigger reach, he's faster, and he's harder to hit clean. He would be able to evade more shots, and he could try and spoil.
GG is more powerful, but it wouldn't mean anything here. It wouldn't be respected by any top 10 guy. And if he tried to utilise it by being aggressive, I think the HW would take him out quick by ****ing back with him. You could say that due to his physical disadvantages, it would be GG's only hope. But I think it would be suicide. He couldn't come out on top in a shootout with a top HW. He has a 70" reach, he has little head movement, and he marks up.
Andre's objective would be to try and survive by out thinking and frustrating his opponent.
Even though he doesn't hit as hard, Andre would be much better equipped here.
The answer has to be Andre.Last edited by robertzimmerman; 04-24-2017, 06:42 PM.Comment

Ward
Golovkin's punch doesn't seem all that massive (no different than Arthur Abraham, I don't see him getting that many guys out of their even one division above where he's fought his entire adult life), and he's more than open to getting hit.
Ward doesn't get hit anywhere near as much as Golovkin does, and Ward's punch is still heavy enough to keep a big light heavyweight like Kovalev off of him.Comment
