Their strategy was to take low risk fights until they got a payday from Cotto or Canelo (that's why they kept allowing them to take interim fights instead of stripping them). Or move up for Froch/Chavez Jr but not Ward or Rodriguez. Or move down for anyone besides Floyd despite saying 154-168. That's also why they're still chasing Canelo even though he gave up the belt and has shown no interest in fighting him. But they convinced the public and boxing media that GGG was different from other fighters.

The plan was to unify with BJS and then to fight Canelo. But after a hard fight against Jacobs, he doesn't want to fight in June. He's not ready to jump straight back into another 8 week camp. It's a shame. But hopefully the Canelo fight will be made after Chavez. And if GG beats Canelo, he'll then fight BJS at some point afterwards. In boxing, things don't always go to plan.

So why not delay the BJS fight until August if he wants to unify? Why cancel it all together?

If mini Tyson gets that belt you can say goodbye to unification. Loeffler isn't taking a chance on a GGG PPV with mini Tyson and HBO won't pay him for the fight. It'll be Jacobs vs. mini Tyson for the WBO belt

GGG's debut on HBO was wonderful. He fed everyone exactly what they wanted to hear.

The d*ckriders bought it cause that's exactly what they wanted to hear/see. "A fighter who is willing to fight anyone." Then GGG was marketed by HBO and K2 as the most feared man in boxing and that everyone was ducking him.

Ward fought everyone at 168 and moved up to fight THE guy at 175. Yea... Ward is full of it. Don't try to throw other fighters under the bus just cause the one you d*ckride the most is a FRAUD.

Why would he have blocked the Cotto-Canelo fight?

He got paid, he fought Lemieux for the IBF whilst he waited for the outcome, and Canelo and Oscar were making noises about fighting him afterwards if they won.

After Canelo had beaten Cotto, Oscar then requested that Canelo had a warm up fight beforehand. GG's team accepted, again getting paid whilst clearing up a mandatory, in the belief that Oscar was genuine and they'd be able to make a fight afterwards.

In hindsight, we know he should never have allowed it. But at the time, it appeared as though it was in his best interests.

Of course he wants a big payday. Everyone does. But he was genuine when he said he wanted all of the belts. If he beats Canelo, he will try and fight BJS afterwards.
