Anything is possible but I see it as a 50/50 fight. If Canelo knew for certain he could beat him he would have fought him already and took all those straps. But he chose to hand one over to him instead.

    • Look, basically it was BS. No need for all these explanations. End of story

        No, look at the circumstances:

        1. He sat down with Sulaiman and was paid to let Cotto defend his title against Canelo, on the understanding that the winner had to fight him afterwards. And whilst Cotto and Canelo were preparing to face each other, he obtained the IBF from Lemieux, which would have made the unification fight bigger.

        2. Oscar duped him and his team. They wanted a voluntary against Khan, and told him they'd negotiate a fight afterwards, with Oscar telling Loeffler to stand by the phone. Yet he then told Canelo to ditch the belt to fight Liam Smith instead.

Without the beauty of hindsight, he thought he was doing the right thing at the time.

He didn't just take the money over the belts. He wanted the belts. But he took the money because he thought it would eventually lead to the belts.

Nobody can objectively criticising him for taking the step-aside fees.

Don't quote me unless it's relevant to the points I've made.

I've never mentioned his resume, and I too think he's being overhyped.

Basically, you've just used my post to vent your hatred.

I understand that. But it's plausible that he went back to the gym and didn't look as fresh as he normally does. It was a hard fight.

              Did he get the winner???
Nope, he chooses to bet and loses..
He could have fought or gain the title instead of waiting....
But nah, we can wait, he waisted nearly 2 years on his quest and got only 800k from cotto in return...
He eventually got the title but waisted lots of time..

                History has proven otherwise.

If it was just about the money, he wouldn't have messed around with Jacobs.

He knows he now has the option of going back to the U.K. to fight guys like Eubank for a guaranteed £5m.

When Jacobs messed him around, he could have dropped him and his belt, to pursue a guy like Eubank instead. Jacobs cost him fighting 3 times last year.

Stop hating and try to be objective.

Unfortunately, he doesn't possess psychic powers, and he took people at their word.

As the saying goes: "Hindsight is a wonderful thing"

The point is: He didn't take the step-aside fees just purely to make money. He did genuinely want to fight for the titles.

no need no phsychic powers to know you can get a title shot next for sure if you decline money... he took money instead of his so called dream...
He did it before and he is doing it again..
Imagine if canelo rematches chavez or fights bjs instead of ggg?
