I argued the same w/fiance!! I rew,ff,and paused so many times I had to replace the batteries in my remote proving it to him... I've seen a few Porter fights and never do I recall seeing him blatantly fight so dirty. I was appalled by his tactics.. I've seen unfortunately quite a few Fighters that fight dirty with headbutts, elbows, and sneaky low blows as well and without referees actively penalizing for each offense (past what is to be expected from 2 orthodox fighters) encourages more of the cowardly behavior.

Porter has a style that certain fighters just can't deal with.. DSG v Porter sounds good but DSG won't take a risky fight like that coming of a loss.
Plus stylistically Porter is all wrong for DSG. I think Thurman v Porter was close.
Big guys like Brook and Spence would beat Porter as they can stop his momentum.Comment

same people complaining about porter headbutting berto praise andre ward, one of the dirtiest boxersComment

There's craft to what Ward does, similar to Hopkins later in his career. Ward comes in under control and actually jabs his way in most of the time. I will give Porter credit, he did that at times tonight. But Ward works his way in, looking at avoid shots, and counters with his own shots. And a lot of the clinching in Ward's fights comes from his opponents being uncomfortable when he gets inside. Or, when his opponent moves outta range, Ward will tie him to prevent being caught in no man's land. Porter basically bullrushes in recklessly throwing punches and swinging his head like a battering ram. And if you can't hurt him, and the ref allows him to do it, its almost impossible to do anything about it.
You could tell Berto was frustrated from jump. And after he was admonished for the rabbit punch, I knew he was done mentally. I felt his frustration. I mean, if a guy is gonna lower his head and basically bullrush you into the ropes. There's very little target area to attack. And if the ref allows it, the back of the head is kinda the only place to hit. The same way you can't force a guy's head below the beltline and complain about getting hit low. You shouldn't be able to do what Porter does and complain about getting hit in the back of the head.Comment

QUOTE :Berto couldn't even stand up at the end. The ropes held him up a few times. He was getting hurt constantly. He couldn't handle the pressure.
I don't know that it was the pressure so much as the Brain damage he could well have received from all the cheap shot headbutts....Comment

He used to play football so I think that has something to do with his style.I'm sorry that was as dirty and as ugly of a fight as I've seen. Porter fights like he's a linebacker in football. In every one of his fights, his opponents get hit with headbutts because he charges in head first. I'm starting to think it's on purpose. Berto was the cleaner boxer. Porter just rough housed him.Comment

We just need Spence to clean out the division. He's the only guy I would favor over every other Welter right now.Comment
