Porter has never intentionally headbutt anyone. Brook and thurman were skilled enough to neutralize him. Berto didnt have the mobility to get away and got mauled.

I'm rewatching the fight right now in great quality (thanks to denium). Berto tied up Porter's left arm like 7 times in the 1st round alone...not a single mention from SHO, of course not. Continues to clinch, and Porter continues to work his free hand. You can't be mad at Porter for employing what he does best. The comments on here are comical. This is quite literally couch potato logic.

On another note, berto is ****ing ridiculous. That clinching **** didn't work for Broner, Idk why he keeps resorting to it. And this dude doesn't have Brook's size and length. If the opponent doesn't clinch (Berto, Broner) or use his elbow and forearm (Broner), it's not going to be an ugly fight! It'll actually be a cleaner fight...and maybe a quicker ending.

edit: did want to add, altho I think the complaints are over the top, Porter isn't a clean fighter, that's not my point here, he does make it rough and I did see him use an elbow in there quite effectively during one moment, but Berto also threw a rabbit punch of his own. It goes both ways.

Looks like Ward was trying to smother Kessler's attack which all defensively responsible fighters do if they find themselves out of position. Porter lunges in with his head and elbows behind punches and smothers not only his opponent but his own offense. He uses his head on the inside but that's part of infighting so I'm not opposed to that. You have to be a strong Welter to handle Porter inside or have a great control is distance with enough power to keep him honest.

He's just the most aesthetically unappealing fighter in recent memory for me.

Short Porter gives great effort every time in the ring. What great effort and drive Porter shows. I have to give credit to Porter for being a competitor and a warrior with courage and heart. Granted Berto lacks heart but Porter simply beat the hell out of Berto. Boxing needs kids like Porter and his dad. If Broner had a Daddy like Kenny Porter then Broner would be respected and admired and not laughed at and poked in fun. Broner got that parade float helium filled round 500lb Daddy who mooches and gives zero guidance to misguided Broner. The Porter's are just a role model of what a boxer should be like with his dad involved.

I admit I missed parts of TvG ...I kept falling asleep...we expected two Boxer-Punchers instead Thurman switched it up deciding to straight box and he employed the Ali tactic of shaving rounds....He talked big about knocking Garcia out then all he did was land a few punches and run the whole fight..Impo Garcia won the exchanges but Thurman threw more ...was tight and as Thurman said he did what he had to do to win..he felt Garcias power so changed his tactics...and I fell asleep...PvB I was wide awake and cussing... I don't care for most of the SHO Refs imho ALWAYS back TMT

In boxing there is being a dirty fighter and there is being a cheater. Dirty Fighters head butt and wrestle around but that's considered part of boxing it's different from being a cheater...but it's also dirty and Shawn Porter is considered a dirty fighter..he is not a polished fighter he is a mauler..he did what he thought he had to, to break Bertos rythm, to stop his speed and jab..
