Comments Thread For: David Allen Off Liverpool Show; Title Clash Set on Brook-Spence

David Allen will wait until next month for his next fight. The Conisbrough heavyweight, 25, had been set to return to the ring this Saturday (April 22) at Liverpool's ECHO Arena. But Allen, according to his promoter Eddie Hearn, has secured a major title shot and wanted to focus on his sparring and training before the fight.

Well Cornish is fighting Sexton for the vacant British title so who are they going to round up for the Commonwealth title? Ian Lewison perhaps? Maybe they bring Dillon "Big Country" Carman over from Canada?

I wonder if Showtime is going to show Dave Allen's fight right before the Brook-Spence fight. It would be cool if they did.

You beat me to it. I thought Dillon Carman would be the most likely candidate. Ian Lewison is another. Hell we could add David Price or Lucas Browne (If not suspended still) to the fold or any fighter from a commonwealth country. I think your 2 names are the most likely choices. Dillon Carman is the Canadian champ but another Canadian HW just won a big fight over Eric Martel Bahoeli & his name is Adam Braidwood. He won the WBU title in that fight & he is a former CFL football player in my city of Edmonton. Crazy guy who was in prison & couldn't stay out of trouble when he was playing pro football. He is 6-1 & is closing in on a title shot at Carman...

Lol, good! We need more crazy guys in the HW division, even if it is at domestic level. Haha. We seem to usually be on the same page when it comes to HWs. Do you think this is a bit of an aggressive move for Allen? I thought the plan was to reset Allen and build him back up slowly after the mismanagement early in his career, but putting him in a fight like this after 1 match where he didn't break a sweat seems a bit risky.

Carman was scheduled to fight Cornish for this title in the new year, so must be in the running. Failing that how about Junior Fa?

Has this guy got a proper trainer yet or still just down the local Fitness First?

David Allen is one of those guys who got matched tough early. He reminds me of Nagy Aguilera who was another guy who got thrown into the fire early in his career. A fight with Lewison or Carman really isn't that aggressive in my opinion. Allen has been in the ring with Whyte & Ortiz. He went the 10 round distance with Whyte & got 7 rounds in against Ortiz. That is 2 top 10 HWs he has been in the ring with & only had 10 pro fights before he got in the ring with both. He also beat an over the hill Gavern but still another name on the resume. I would give him the edge in experience over both Lewison & Carman as he has been in the ring with top contenders.
