Of course Ward would pick Rigondeaux as P4P. He favors inactivity as a criteria...

Casual boxing fans couldn't name more than opponent on his resume and even hardcore fans can't name any of his last few opponents.

Rigo should have moved up to 122 and fought Loma just like GGG should have moved up and fought Ward. Ward is being humble.

Loma is the lb for lb best fighter in the world and Ward/Kova are second and third. Loma has moved up divisions and totally destroyed the best in every division.

Rigo at #1?... Rigo is now Ward's stablemate... and who ducked Rigo?... LSC, Frampton and Loma (at the catch weight of 124)...

And let's not fool ourselves, Rigo got hurt and knocked down by some bums in Japan, he's not so invicible as y'all say he is, he plays it safe for most part, but he can get hit. A bigger, stronger fighter in Loma would most likely knock him out. Great big fighter beats great small fighter, We will never know that for sure because Rigo didn't want his biggest payday lol
        ... OK, OK...

... but, anyway, Loma really did duck Rigo at the catch weight of 124!

CORK, Ireland - Irishman Gary Hyde, the manager of unified super bantamweight (122 lbs.) world champion Guillermo "The Jackal" Rigondeaux (15-0, 10 KOs), has accepted in principal the offer made by Egis Klimas, manager of World Boxing Organization (WBO) featherweight (126 lbs.) champion Vasyl "Hi-Tech" Lomachenko (4-1, 2 KOs), for a Super Fight. Rigondeaux is the reigning World Boxing Association (WBA) Super, WBO and The Ring magazine's super bantamweight champion.

Rigondeaux is one of my favorite fighters but you're right about his inactivity.

Out of curiosity, what makes you list Canelo as highly skilled? To me, he only looks impressive vs fighters who have limited boxing skills like Angulo and Kirkland. Vs highly skilled boxers like Floyd and Lara, he seemed to barely be able to land.

You're right... But Canelo is skilled enough (and he is still young...)... It's true: Ward placed Canelo that high also because of his beef with GGG...

So Rigo just put a rodeblock by wanting a rehydration clause. This dude has no negotiating leverage and he still puts up some ridiculous demands. But yeah Loma ducked him by making him an offer to fight him, great argument.

Good post. I am edging more to resume than eye test but how a boxer looks is important too.

I disagree about KOs though. If you have a Floyd who wins off legwork and comprehensively outpoints the opponent then that is as valid as a KO.

The think about KOs is that they are great for making the sport attractive and bringing in casuals.

Ward is salty that he has been at the top level for twice as long as Golovkin yet Golovkin is a bigger name over the last three years, especially at international level. It's because Golovkin's style is exciting.

I actually like watching Rigondeaux fight. But he is way too inactive.

Rigo, Crawford, Canelo, Lomachenko and Thurman? What a crappy list.
