You're going to get the typical NSB responses. Those that love Loma will say it made no difference, those that hate him will say Walters would've KO'd him. You can probably predict the response from every poster.

With me, I think Loma beats Walters 10/10 times. He's just in another league. You can search my post history and find me saying, I still wasn't sure if Walters was a truly elite fighter, or just a big fighter that was overwhelming smaller featherweights. I look at the fight with Miguel Marriaga where Marriaga, who is a big puncher, wasn't even affecting the much bigger Walters.

But at the same time, you can't be delusional and say that the layoff had NO impact on Walters. Of course it did. Layoffs are never good for fighters and this situation was no different.

Layoffs have an affect, especially if you don't keep your training up. Mayweather was always training, that's the difference.

Does it really matter now? Walters got so spanked that he's probably retired from embarrassment.

Fighters are better when they are active, they are sharper and their reflexes better honed.

Being put on the shelf by your promoter and worrying where your next paycheck is going to come from is not an ideal atmosphere for a boxer's mental state.

I think we can all agree on that much at least.

Look at Loma's last 3 fights. All three of them were in panic mode after round 3. You could see the frustration on their faces.

It is hard to fight a guy like Loma because he always appears to be a step ahead. Just imagine being in the ring with someone who is hitting you over and over again, yet you cannot hit them back. Try to imagine the frustration level.

Do you think Walters would have won? Or would Walters still of lost in what would have been a more competitive match?

                Poll on the way..
All things being optimal for Walters going into the fight, Walters at least would have tried to fight back, and win.

Your uncle Al Haymon has been putting many of his fighters on the shelf for more than a year, so what can you say about that? Predictable poster.

The fight would've been much more competitive, but still have a UD win for Loma.

Walters' power didn't carry when he moved up, that was evident in the Sosa fight. He hit him with everything he had and Sosa kept coming, shots that used to put people out cold.

My sentiments too. IQ separates the good from elite, which I knew Loma has and doubted Walter's had. Pre fight I likened it to Floyd vs Corrales, but I thought Walter's would make it 12, which saddened me to see him quit like that.
